AU issue - EQ goes to full screen. MAC Catalina

Hi, I’m using Audirvana 3.5.37 with my macbook pro. I use the Voxengo EQ plug in and it has worked very well for months.

A couple days ago I upgraded my MacOS to Catalina and the following problem showed up…when I hit play on a song, the EQ screen goes to full screen. The EQ image however is not full, you can not see the full range of EQ bands.
I can go to menu and exit from full screen and then go to the player interface, however, I can not make the EQ screen to be showing at the same time as the player.

Before the update when I hit play, the EQ screen would open and position on top of the player screen. I am not able to do this anymore.

Maybe I should uninstall and re-install Audirvana?

A follow up question for the Audirvana team…where can I find my license key?
In PREFERENCES…GENERAL…LICENSE, I see Audirvana 3.5.37 (XXXX). Is this 4 digit number the license number?

No.

You received it by email if i’m not wrong.

@RunHomeSlow do you have by any chance, detailed instructions to uninstall audirvana from my macbook pro? THANKS

You can simply trash your preferences of Audirvana and see if it cure your bug.

Close Audirvana.

Apple hide the Home Folder in User Library at some time depending on OS System…
When you have clicked your Home Folder, and cannot see the Library Folder in there,
just do a ‘‘cmd J’’ to show the folder settings preferences and see at the bottom…
click Show Library Folder and then you’ll have access to the rest forever.

Go to User… Home Folder… Library… Preferences…
trash com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus.plist
and com.audirvana.Audirvana.plist in that folder
(those are A+ software preferences, back them up or not).

Restart Mac, Restart Audirvana and see.

If you want to do a real clean up… this is what i tell usually:

Start fresh Audirvana by deleting those files…

If you have Playlists that are important export them first to desktop and save them in a folder… when Audirvana is reset, you can re-import them back in one shot. sadly to this day, the folders they were in if so, are not back, you have to do them again…

Before doing this, maybe you should not connect after deleting those files to Roon, Tidal or others… Install Audirvana alone with your database… if working, log to Roon or else after.

Starting for new Audirvana:
Close Audirvana.

Go to the Main Library Folder… PrivilegedHelperTools folder…
Trash All the files in that folder from Audirvana (that folder install SysOptimizer)

Go to the Main Library Folder… LaunchDaemons Folder…
Trash All the files in that folder from Audirvana (SystemOptimizer and prefs files)

Go to User… Home Folder… Library… Applications Support… Audirvana Folder…
Trash All the files in that folder (that is your database of music, back it up! or not)

Go to User… Home Folder… Library… Cookies…
Trash com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus.binarycookies

Go to User… Home Folder… Library… Preferences…
trash com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus.plist and

Go to User… Home Folder… Library… Caches… com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus
trash the files in that folder.

Restart Mac.

This will reset pretty much Audirvana like new. You will need you serial number.

Open Audirvana, enter serial, choose a library folder at first it will sync in top middle of main window… LET IT GO, even better don’t try to adjust windows or edit files, even playing music while it is not finished… you’ll see the progress bar going… Could be long the first time depending on how large your library is, and Mac is fast or not… go to sleep if it is too long

Then when finished, shut down Audirvana, yes close it before playing a song…
That way you will have your database from scratch saved without crashing.
Then copy the .sqlite file to somewhere else as a backup, then open Audirvana, and try to play a song. it will try to install System Optimizer…

You got brand new interface and new sound… Go to Audirvana menu and select preferences…
look at them all, then click on speaker icon in the bottom right main window…
select your DAC, then the arrow right of it and look at all the preferences there too…
ready, click library icon on top left, click cover if you prefer covers over tracks mode…
cmd + or - will make covers bigger or smaller… click a cover to see all songs of that album…
do cmd i to see the info panel (or click little tag icon on right middle border of Audirvana window)
of that album, click a song or select them all with cmd A and see all their infos to be edited by you, if needed… double click a song and listen, be happy

Thank you @RunHomeSlow I have performed the first suggestion (trashing preferences) and the result is that now the audio units is not working at all. I have tried the Voxengo EQ and the apple EQ and no luck. I am moving to part 2 of your message.

You are installing the good version of the plugin, i know one doesn’t work in audirvana… AU or VST3 can’t remember :grinning:

You can try to change your display resolution to adjust, then put it back ?

Actually, I didn’t touch the plugin. I just selected it from the AU list.
Maybe a good idea to reinstall as well?

Maybe there is an update on that plugin for Catalina…

I made a perfect reboot of audirvana following your instructions. Thank you so much. I also installed a newer verion of the Voxel EQ, but the problem remains the same. It is affecting the third party plugin and also the Apple AUs.
Not sure how to move from here.

Hello @Perro1965,

Can you send me a copy of the “Debug Info”? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>General>Debug Info

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message

Here it goes. Thank you

Your settings seems to be good, can you make a screenshot while you are trying to use this Audio Unit?

This is what I see after I hit play. I have to hit the “EXIT FULL SCREEN” option and then select the Audirvana player in order to see Audirvana. However, I can never get the EQ on top of the Audirvana player screen. I had been doing it before I upgraded to Catalina…

It is the same with the apple AUs

Can you click on the green button on the left corner of the window?

Well, yes, I think that’s it. If I keep both the audirvana and AU screens not as “full screen”, then I can locate the AU screen on top of Audirvana the way I used to do it.
I don’t get the nice audirvana “full screen” visibility but definitely this is something that I can live with. Thank you for helping me.

Now, with last image, can you just drag a corner of the eq window to make it bigger like you want ?

Nop. It won’t let me do it. However the EQ screen size is ok that way. What I want is to have Audirvana in full screen and the EQ on top of it, at current size. Right now Audirvana is not in full screen mode
