Audirvana 3.5.42 completely locking W10 desktop computer

When playing Audirvana my computer will be rendered completely unresponsive in unpredictable intervals.

The screen turns black and the computer does not react on any mouse or keyboard action. The only reliable remedy is a hard shutdown by powering down the machine. In some instances I was able to revive the machine by random keystrokes. The sound from Audirvana continues for a couple of minutes in such situations before it stops as well.

Obviously this is very annoying. There is no direct correlation with other programs running at the same time.nor with a specific Audirvana or Windows release as this happend with previous versions as well.

Does anyone have any clue how to avoid this behaviour? My configuration is as follows:

Audirvana 3.5.42
Fabfilter Pro-Q3
Topping E30 DAC @352,8/384 kHz
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
64 GB RAM DDR4-3200

Thanks very much!

Wolfgang

Hello @WHU,

Can you send me a copy of the “Debug Info”? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>General>Debug Info

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message

Hi Damien3, thanks for your quick response.

Here is the information you requested.

Cheers

Wolfgang

Can you first deactivate VST3 and upsampling in the audio output settings and try to play a song?

Hi Damien3,

I heeded your advice and disabled upscaling and VST3. With these settings in place I could no longer reproduce the effect of a total lock of my computer screen.

However, as I do need to eq my speakers I did some more testing. It turned out that an unfortunate configuration of my device driver seems to have led to the problem. The graphics card came with an optimised setting for gaming preinstalled. Disabling anything related to improving gaming did the trick, it seems. The screen hasn’t been locked since.

Thanks for your attention!

Wolfgang
