Merci d’avance… C’est irritant

Have you tried disabling the upsampling?

Yes, I’ve tried both (Upsampling on/off). Same sytemic behavior.
1rst track of each album is cut way before its normal endng. All the following tracks are playing smoothly and entirely.

Personne ne rencontre ce problème?
@Damien @Damien
Merci!

Can you paste the debug info here?

Voici le fichier Debug. Merci !

With Audirvana 3.5 you don’t have many options. In Studio/Origin there is a switch to select whether you want to send RAW PCM or not. Try to see if the helps.

Thanks for your input.
What’s the Raw PCM meaning and what is thé alternative ?

It means sending it to the streamer as uncompressed PCM in the target resolution as opposed to sending the FLAC file (compressed although without loss).

Another problem precipitated by inadequate system RAM and buffering…
The system RAM is shared by all operations of the macOS and hosted software… All operations require some level of RAM cache… I don’t understand how folks expect system extensive operations + UPnP network management operations to work flawlessly without an abundance of available RAM? This, not even taking into consideration, the electronic and electromechanical gremlins that are always at play in a given network configuration and target device operating-system interpretation of a given networking protocol… If the system has enough RAM to absorb the operational demands of the macOS platform which includes audio-data flow across the Ethernet bus and the host audio application demands, the computer should be able to manage multiple tasks fairly easily, if not adroitly…

It seems to me that UPnP is a poor choice for networked high resolution digital-audio distribution… Audio Video Bridging (AVB) is the advanced choice for audiophile distribution of digital-audio on an Ethernet network connection:

Indeed. And using MenuMeters, I see I have plenty of available ram (and plenty of available space on my SSD if there’s any swap needed). So yeah, it should work, adroitly. Yet it doesn’t.
There’s a famous software using UPnP which doesn’t (in my case at least) show any of these issues, it’s Foobar. According to the Audirvāna developers, that’s because Foobar is a “UPnP server”, while Audirvana is a “UPnP Renderer”. I don’t know why Audirvana isn’t a UPnP server, but it seems that most of the problems come from that.

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:@Yohmi

It looks to me that if it is true that Audirvana Studio is implemented as a UPnP “Media Renderer”, it is therefore controlled from a UPnP “Media Server” control point… It would make sense that the computer hosting Audirvana Studio, is implemented as a local network playback client, connected locally to a DAC for best possible playback integrity and sound-quality from the digital-audio data being streamed on the network…
http://upnp.org/specs/av/UPnP-av-AVArchitecture-v2.pdf
http://upnp.org/resources/documents/UPnP_AV_tutorial_July2014.pdf

I can’t help but to think that QoS configurations of the network router and Media Server UPnP implementation of QoS, play into these network playback anomalies…

That might be the case if the bandwidth was limited. In the world of ubiquitous gigabit ethernet and fast wifi that should not be the case.

You can’t also blame everything on the caching. You can easily check if the caching is the issue here, just increase the pre load cache.

This specific issue looks to be UPnP related.

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Network throughput does not indemnify the playback system from these playback anomalies… Network data-flow integrity and frame/packet timing is another factor to consider in the high resolution digital-audio scenario, as this is affected by electronic, electromechanical and radio frequency and electromagnetic field gremlins that corrupt the data being transmitted and interfere with the transmitter hardware and receiver hardware performance…

I’m not saying there is not some factor related to Audirvana… I have no idea… all these reported playback anomalies are anecdotal in nature and other potential factors can play into these experiences… Obviously, the designers of Audirvana will be able to articulate insights and/or solutions, if in fact these anomalies are software related…

More than Gremlins, this network would need to be possessed to exhibit this kind of behaviour.

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:
My next question is… What is the network hardware configuration and the power/grounding scheme…?

I’ve already said that using Foobar through UPnP on my same setup doesn’t show any of these issues. Unless Foobar has an anti-gremlin ray and can temporarily fix my electricity installation, it’s software related.

Seems that cause and effect rules out VooDoo as well, many top brands of equipment will NOT play well with Audirvāna software. Both 3.5 and Studio in my case have intolerable issues from just won’t play to no gapless play.
Audirvāna sales media paints a far rosier picture than actual reality delivered in my case and many many others you can see on the forum. Unfortunately the complete lack of response from the official support system on the network playback issues ( @Antoine yes you ) would lead me to believe that no quick resolution is at hand.
It apparently works well enough for some people and poorly or not at all for the rest of us. I would not waste to much time or purchase any more equipment. Better luck going forward @Yohmi

The salient question is: “Why does it work for some and not for others?”
