Audirvana + convolution - a new approach

While I use Audrivana Studio on the Mac for this demo, it is the same process for Linux and/or Raspberry Pi using pipewire (and optionally upmpdcli).

For those already using HLC Plugin, this extends the capability to run convolution with Audirvana Core.

HLC Web Application and HLC Embedded are two new additions to the Hang Loose DSP Software Suite, which is a growing suite of audio DSP applications and plugins.

HLC Web Application and Embedded can run on Mac, Windows, Linux, and Raspberry Pi. HLC Web App can run with a native UI or run headless.

HLC Web App gives the user the ability to compare level matched DRC filters and/or headphone filters in real time using a web browser on a phone or tablet from the comfort of one’s listening chair.

HLC Embedded gives music application developers the ability to easily embed convolution into their application and communicate with it using a simple REST API.

I’m a little confused here. Does this work in another way than using a plugin in Audirvāna? You say it should work woth the Audirvāna Core, but I thought that using plugins isn’t an option yet in the Linux Core Player. Forgive me my ignorance here, I am not really at home in these kind of things.

Thanks for your question. HLC can also run as a standalone, headless application with a web interface. On Linux, HLC has a specialized ALSA back end that takes Audirvana output via ALSA loopback driver and passes it through the convolver and output to a locally connected DAC or can send via UPnP to a renderer end point. Automatic sample rate switching is supported in both scenarios.
