Audirvana Studio stops

After playing three tracks from a Qobuz playlist, playback stops. Merci de votre aide.

Have you tried reboot?

Stops for me too. Intermittent bug, happens within about 15 seconds after starting a local file track successfully. Happens in both Studio and Origin, streaming UPnP to an Auralic Aries Femto streamer.

I had restarted the Mac just to use Audirvana but still, crash and had to force quit. Then had to restart hardware…

MacOS 12.4, M1 MBP, latest Audrivana…(sigh)

Can you dump the debug info here?

@bitracer here is the latest dump - something caused my music to stop about ten seconds into playback. Please let me know what questions you have:

By the way, that failure to play and debug dump came after I trashed the app and reinstalled Studio on my Mac.

You can try to reduce the pre-load cache to 2000MB.

Most likely it’s a UPnP issue. Auralic uses the OpenHome flavour of the UPnP specification which is not fully compatible with Audirvana.

Is that setting in Audirvana or in Auralic software? Bummer it’s a stupid software issue that clearly isn’t a priority for Auralic.

It’s Auralic.

Thank you, I’ll give this a try now.

Hey, perhaps my Aries is too old now but I do not see the option to change any cache pre-load in the Auralic software. Any idea about where it’s found in Auralic’s settings?

Ahh no, that setting is in Audirvana.

Right - I should’ve looked in the first “Loading/Decoding” box of Audirvana’s buffer settings. The reduction to 2.0 MB seems to worked/helped, at least for now. Thanks again!

Reporting back on my experience over the last few days (I don’t have time to listen every day, and I don’t always know if I will have time):

Again, when streaming UPnP to an Auralic Aries Femto streamer, lowering the buffer appears to be the wrong thing to do. Instead, raising/increasing the buffer size has helped, or at least seems to help. The unknown questions are still:

  • Why does a song play 5-25 seconds and then stop, requiring a hardware power cycle (turn Auralic Aries Femto server off, turn back on)?

  • Why does this problem go away after suffering through two or three power cycles, and/or going into Aries settings and making a change, and changing back)?

Of course, unlikely I’ll get an answer here at Audirvana’s forum, but I’m putting this context here because computer audio is a complicated and personal thing. For now, the larger buffer seems the way to go or at least the foundation for the next step. My buffer is set to 7 GB or whatever is almost all the way to the right of the scale in the first setting.
