It’s also a subscription player.
If you have a licence does it need to connect to the internet?

I don’t know about the audio players but I know software that does this.
But how about the old Audirvana? The license is managed by a server. I don’t think it will work if you disconnect the internrt, at least not many times. Also there are VST plugins (Goodhertz) who does this.
Once I activated A3.5, I could use it without internet connection. The server just controls that it is not activated in too many devices.
I used A3.5 on the move with my laptop.
You need to connected it periodically to the internet when it asks you to check the license, even though it’s already activated. The rest of the time you can use it offline.
It is even in the 3.5 preferences… maximum is one month to wait to check for license
Understand. Anyway, these details are not important for the final consumer, in these days almost everyone has internet access 24/7.
Audirvana players have military grade anti piracy protection.
With Audirvana Plus it was not like that. You received your licence file by mail, and then you loaded it to the player, and that’s all. The player never tried to connect to the net.
I can’t find that setting in 3.5. Would you please post a screen shot? Thank you.
This is for the updates. It has nothing to do with the license.
disconnect from internet more than a month, you’ll see what happen.
Why do think hundred of people have to come here to ask for resetting their license.
If it didn’t check, no one will know that you have more than your 2 copies running…
people were complaining about that long time ago… then Damien put the one month limit.
But Damien should also made a system, like for AS, a site/webapp when the client can manage his/her license. At the beginning of June I reinstall my W10 without revoking the license - didn’t know is necesary (A 3.5). Of course I got the “too many installs” error. It was a shock for me - I paid a lot of cash and couldn’t use the app because… because of what? Very annoying. After sending mails to Damien and paddle I had my license resetted - AFTER FEW DAYS. I was expected to wait max few hours. In relation with other companies (my ISP, Qobuz, paddle) I got a very quick response. That’s because Damien make a team with himself (most probabily). But you can’t make a business in this way.
I understand this. Put yourself in the developer(s) skin - skills, time, passion, taxes and of course some profit, after all it’s a business. If almost all the users have illegal copies the company will die, the developer(s) should do something else even for surviving.
Agree. Mac version has many options, maybe because is older and Damien like macs more and also is more familiar with macs. That SysOptimizer is interesting, on Windows we have to use Fidelizer or other optimizing software or make manual changes (disable services, remove startup items, change other parameters).
You are right, it’s understandable and important. Many apps are hacked.
Yap. And especially for small developers/companies can be very very bad. The best anti piracy solutions are online license check and subscription for expensive apps. In this way everyone will be happy. I know you prefer to own a thing, but it’s really a good idea when we talk about apps? If you will not get updates sooner or later the product will not be functional. And if your lifetime license gives you the right to updates the company/product can dissapear. So “lifetime” is a stupidity, pure marketing.
