Audirvāna Studio vs Roon

One song alone must be 2gb and more and won’t be seen on PC, Mac i don’t know…

There’s no such limitation on the Mac.

ISOs are not files, they are image discs.

Hmmm. One song alone more than 2 GB? This is an insane size. I don’t have and don’t want such “songs” IMO are just wasted bits. Anyway, clearly I will not hear the difference with my system.

I thought yo refer to files generally speaking.

It’s not a file, just like a folder is not a file.

I know and I agree. But generally speaking folders are directories and the rest (archives, pictures, music files, images, aplications files, all other things) are files.

Image discs are like discs. They contain files or applications. You just have to mount them in order to see their content or write to them, if they are not read only discs.

I tend to view this discussion about whether or not it should be in the ‘file’ category as nonsense.

But there is a relevant side to it. Files above 2GB will not be visible on Windows. But the files in the 2 GB image are visible on a Windows installation?

Yes.

It’s not sure. A file in the ISO disk image is a track.
Do you have a track of 2 GB in your disk image?

No.

Tried HQplayer with Roon and I don’t see the point or I can’t hear the point. 20 days to go until the end of the trial and so far Roon is a superior player and library management software. Regarding sound quality I can’t hear any difference.

Are you sure that you configured HQPlayer correctly?
And are you sure to have configured correctly the integration of Roon with HQPlayer?

yes

Guys, I tried Audirvana studio. I don’t want to be cruel but as a subscription case the software is laughable compared to Roon. There is absolutely no justification. The 15£ extra for Roon is more than justified. I am sorry but the subscription model is a failure.

As a software, Roon is years ahead of all the other players. But how the sound of v1.8 compares to Audirvana?

Whenever I listen to Roon 1.8, I immediately realize it lacks bass. It’s detailed, very resolving, but after a few days of listening to Roon, it gets tiresome. Too much leaning towards treble, neglecting bass to a certain extent.

Switching to AS, the sound is natural, detailed, but never as treble pronounced as Roon 1.8. It’s a smooth and natural listening experience.

I often wonder if I am the only one sensing this typical Roon phenomenon. Roon’s UI is undoubtedly the very best, but it’s SQ is, at least in my system, behind others.

No, you are not the only one. It’s very visible (probabily not on all systems) even for someone who is not audiophile (my wife). At tthe beginning of June had a problem wirh A 3.5 (“too many installs”) and tried Roon. The sound was as you said. And when my problem has been fixed I switched back to A 3.5 and - WOW- big difference! With AS is even better. Hope bugs to be fixed. All I want is a player and a good sound - nothing more. I don’t care about bios and other technical details or network functionality.

And what sounds better in your system AS or A3.5?
