AS. But for an even better sound IMO I use upsampling and one VST (Goodhertz). With Kernel Streaming. Upsampling not to DSD because I found the sound artificial (maybe because of my poor cpu, idk). This is my definitive setup for the moment.
Studio is better sounding and more revealing on my system than Roon.
There are people on the forum who say that A3.5 sounds better than AS.
Especially 3.5.44 and 3.5.41 on Mac, and that the sound of 3.5.46 sucks.
I don’t know how to get vst to work. Maybe I have to doable exclusive mode? I’m not sure but with asio. Wasapi or kernal it bypasses the vst modules. Do whole sound is unprocessed by the pc. I obviously cannot use an eq
Hmmm, sorry but I didn’t had any problems of this type. Just observed that with some vst’s the software is very unstable, even with BSODs. Try first Voxengo GEQ - it’s free and works on Windows 100%. Also try disabling temporary your AV - I know maybe it’s nonsense but don’t hurt to try.
That’s a true relief! I couldn’t get my head around that all the world uses Roon, praises Roon sky high and everyone seems to be perfectly happy with its sound. I thought I’d be a sonic alien
Is this with all files? Do you use MQA?
Little offtopic: I really hate this MQA (Marketing whatever). I think my music, Qobuz and local, sounds very good without. I also read about it especially on this forum and I have an opinion- I really want to dissapear.
Wow. This thread is too long! How about starting a new thread, e.g.:
Audirvāna Studio vs Roon part 2
But I think we ran in circles. At least the conclusions are clear for me: AS is better on sq for some users including me. AS is also a better choice because of his interface and functions, wich are ok and (almost) enough for some users including me. AS is more buggy, Roon more stable. But some users, including me, had (very) little problems with AS. For example today I listened local albums (FLAC) without any error and a pleasant sound.
And I will add one more point: Roon works on any version of Windows, for example Windows 7 because don’t use the app installer technology. If I will install Windows 7 on my old PC everything will run smoother and faster but I will can’t install AS because Damien chose the very buggy app installer. But I can install Roon without problems, without app installer, Store and othe MS$ bad things.
Conclusion: For Audirvana buy a Mac?
I will buy a Mac (my first Mac) but not only for Audirvana. But I think the version for Apple is better.
I forgot, what are you using for a DAC, Amp, Speakers/Headphones?
I have a stereo Pioneer amplifier and 2 stereo speakers from the same manufacturer. For me sounds good. Sometimes I use headphones.
Got it. Thanks.
I think the majority of listeners will agree…AS is the clear winner in terms of sound.
Just wish AS came in an appliance form like the RR that people could ‘purchase’…even with the blipps and quirks, I’d pay the street price for a AS-Streamer.
With that said, currently loving the new BS-Node with its internal Dac upgrade over the previous model.
i dont have any of the device options because i am output over ethernet to my usbridge.
Understand. In this case I’m sorry, I can’t help you, I don’t know. I suggest to send a mail to Damien ([email protected]). Sometimes answer quickly. He is the developer and should be the first option IMO.
