I have the intention to try Apple Music when they’ll release in the beginning of next year their special player for classical music.
For people who listen to classical music, the content that is available on Qobuz and Tidal is a joke.
I’ve just took at quick look at forum to check out if there is any chance to return to good old Audirvana or if Studio has been finally fixed. It seems it is still more of a beta software that somebody expect me to pay for. While I have been huge fan of original Audirvana and always recommended over Roon, it seems eventually I will be forced to switch to Roon… at least it is more stable than Studio and has some features I am missing in Audirvana. Sad but true.
Not working for me. Every time I move the progress bar then the song will start from the beginning except with DSD files. The progress bar works fine with DSD
1000 comments between AS and roon. That tells you a lot
I just gave it another try when I read your response and here it works each and every time.
Sorry for you, but I think this is not a problem on Audirvanas side, but rather a „different“ UPnP implementation on your playback device.
Which is better for the consumer:
The RAAT protocol, so that every consumer knows that the functionality has been tested. But that every manufacturer has to knock on the door of Roon to obtain/buy the RAAT certificate. And there is no other software package that supports this.
Or a UPnP standard that gives too many variations in the implementation. And no customer knows in advance how the functionality will be. And even after a software/firmware update can change again. But it can be used by any software and hardware manufacturer. Small and niche or large and commercial.
I prefer Raat because UPnP is a real troublemaker.
Roon made a good decision when they started their company.
I never had a problem with Raat, but lots of and nasty ones with UPnP.
Well ends up to be Audirvana’s problem from a consumer’s point of view. Maybe the guys at roon were wise when they decided to implement their own protocol instead of UPnP
And what sounds better to your ears among all these devices?
So you prefer headphones to speakers. I also listen a lot with headphones.
Qobuz and Tidal stream also multichannel mixes?
We all have the same problem. ![]()
There’s no way to fix this bug. ![]()
Is it possible for Audirvana to implement RAAT?
There are interesting 5.1 mixes, but you have to stay in place to listen. You can not move in the room.
Reading all comments about Roon VS Audirvana Studio, I managed to convince myself to start a trial of Roon, just to make my own opinion out of it.
But, honestly, there is something that made me doubting about my understanding of the word 'free".
What I do not understand is why I’m supposed to provide my credit card number for something supposed to be “free”. Free should mean I enter when I decide, and leave when I want, without giving anything. On the other side, that means that after expiration of the trial, if I’m not willing to continue, they can stop the service.
On top of that, 14 days of trial is a bit short to fully test such application unless you have nothing else to do.
So, too bad for Roon but I won’t start any “supposed to be free” trial.
And thats fine. You don’t have to. Enjoy what you like, case closed. Roon is not for everyone neither is Audirvana nor any other software but it is great to have so many options…
Do you think that Roon may charge you even if you don’t subscribe?
That’s how they control if subscribe multiple times for trial.
You subscribe immediately, just the first 15 days are free and you can cancel before you’re charged. Otherwise the subscription just continues.
I agree that 15 days is not much, but even if you pay a month of subscription it’s not the end of the world. Some people are never convinced, no matter how much they test it.
