CA DacMagic 200M - question about upsampling to DSD

I find that with my setup, the music sounds better to my ears when I use upsampling. My setup is probably pretty average. I have high-quality headphones and when listening through them I find the sound is fine without any upsampling.

My DAC (CA DacMagic 200M) can play up to DSD 512, but in the upsampling options, the 512 option is greyed out. This is the case with either r8brain or sox. Just wondering why the 512 option is greyed out.

From the DacMagic 200M specifications:

  • 44.1kHz to 96kHz PCM, DoP64 (Optical)
  • 44.1kHz to 192kHz PCM, DoP64 (Coaxial)
  • 44.1kHz to 768kHz PCM, Native DSD 64x to 512x, DoP 64x to 256x (USB)

The DoP 1.1 PCM carrier sample rate for DSD256 (11.2MHZ) is 768kHz.

Thanks for the reply, and sorry - I was mooching through the forum looking at other posts and obviously should have just dug out the specs and taken a look instead of posting my question. Anyway, thanks again.
