Crackling and scratching noice with Mac

Hi,

I suddenly have these crackling scratching noices in the background when I listen through my MacBook Pro. Did not have this before. Any idea what it can be? It’s only when I play through the Mac.

Debug below

Hello @Janne_Alanampa,

Have you tried to make the update to 11.2.3 ?

What update do you mean?

MacOS update, you are using MacOS 11.2.2 but the latest is 11.2.3

Aah ok, I have not installed that one yet. Could this be the problem?

No, updating the Mac did not help. This is very strange??

Set the Hog Mode to on and set the MQA capability to Non-MQA.

Sorry for asking but where do I find the Hog Mode switch?

This is pretty annoying, many songs is totally inaudible at this point. Does anybody have any idea how to solve this?

This happens only when playing through Audirvana, when I stream through Tidals app everything sounds perfect.

Under DAC settings search for exclusive access. It might be related to Tidal or some other app holding the interface. Close all apps and try again.

My locally stored files are also affected by this, so it’s not only Tidal.

Hi Janne, are you using a DAC? Also, have you tried a PRAM reset?

I don’t think I’ve done anything but suddenly everything works fine again. Very strange!

Hi Jane
Glad it started working ! I had a similar problem. The fix was Audirvana >audio settings >up sampling >Deactivated .
Cheers
