CRASH! my first

Yikes, all this time, solid as a rock, today crash city… well not quite, I opened the mini-player, for the first time, and clicked on the start button for audio analysis, and boom, gone instantly…

Your memory buffer is at the top, too much, no ressource for the system.
Default for 16gb is 13313 if i remember.
Also, you cannot test scan audio when it is a DSD file,
so maybe the same thing will happen if you are upsampling to DSD… except it crash

Thanks, I’ll test your input.

Ok, so looked at the memory buffer,in preferences it shows in Gb, but when you click on the gear wheel to change setting 'max memory allowed for tracks pre-load, it is shown in Mb. Anyway, I lowered the buffer to around 2Gb, it still crashes, so I don’t think the buffer size is the issue. Put buffer size back up to maximum, changed upsampling to device maximum, no crash… Thanks. I don’t think the upsampling to DSD gives me anything, I was just trying it because my DAC can handle it… Device maximum sounds the same to me… And that’s all that matters. Using the balanced output of my DAC to my new headphones and all is good.

Prey, tell.
What did you go for in the end?
Wireless, or wired?

Wired, I really don’t need wireless.
I finally settled on Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7b, with balanced cable, plugged into my iFi zen DAC. I’m very happy with the results. I think it’s a good bang for my limited bucks. Us pensioners are not all rich you know…

Hi @reddog1, can you send the crash report generated at support@audirvana.com ?

It apparently only happens when trying to analyse DSD track.

The ReplayGain analysis?

No, sorry, wrong terminology. It’s the Audio scan that crashes Origin if I try to scan a DSD file while playing. It is fine for every other file.

Can you send a screenshot right before you get the crash?

of course…

In this case it’s not scanning a DSD track, it is scanning your 16/44 FLAC track. Do you get the crash whatever track you try to scan?

Of course it’s scanning the actual file… Don’t know why I thought otherwise. There’s no problem when scanning files not upsampled to DSD, however, it won’t scan a native DSD file.

Ok, can you please send us the crash at support@audirvana.com since you seem to be able to reproduce the issue easily.

Ok, so. Image shows unable to scan native DSD ( start greyed out )

However, I have been unable to replicate the cresh when analysing upsampled files! Though the first post on this subject does contain a debug report from when I did get a crash. Otherwise, next time it crashes.

Set to: DSD 1.1
Why not up-sample to DSD128? Your DAC is capable of this…
I’m using 14 GB buffer memory with my quad-core i7 MBP with 16GB RAM

Another conflicting problem maker… Audirvana wants complete control of the Core Audio API’s…

Your macOS version may be causing some problems as well…
:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

The Soundflower device is leftover, I’m trying to figure how to remove it completely, though it shouldn’t effect anything. As for Mac OS version, I’m stuck with that I’m afraid.

Audirvana cannot calculate DR numbers on DSD files,
so i guess it is the same on Audio Scan…
but should not crash the app, just have the button greyed.

Agree. It seems to be behaving now, we’ll see,
