Designing a new playback set up with Core running in Proxmox

Hi there.

I was once a user like years ago and am revisiting Audirvana.

I have set up a Proxmox server and would like to run Audirvana Core on that server.

My questions are

1/ Is this a setup supported by AV?

2/ Is it best set up as an LMC container or VM?

3/ Is there full support to an Sonore OpticalRendu Deluxe?

4/ Is there full support of the Holo Audio Cyan 2?

5/ Is there full support of the Holo Audio Red running Gentooplayer?

I want to seamlessly stream PCM files and upscale with filters (within AV) to DSD to allow full use of the unique separate direct 1DSD hardware in the Holo Audio.

Thanks!!!

Welcome…

I haven’t run Proxmox, I don’t have your hardware, and I don’t work for Audirvāna. So evaluate the reliability of what I’m going to say with that in mind.

  • Proxmox is Debian based, and Audirvāna makes a Debian package, so I think there’s reason for optimism. In my experience, the dependency to keep an eye on is libxml2. Audirvāna expects libxml2.so.2, while some distros install newer versions. So if it doesn’t seem to be working, you may need to use downgrade or find the older version in a repository.
  • If I understand correctly, an LXC uses the OS kernel and is therefore a bit “closer to the metal,” so my guess would be that’d work better than a VM.
  • The Rendus use mpd/upmpdcli for UPnP, which is the same thing I use, so again reason for optimism. I think it’s set up on the Rendus to support UPnP-AV, which is what Audirvāna uses.
  • I can’t think of a reason why Audirvāna wouldn’t work with the Cyan 2.
  • You will have to ask others running GentooPlayer. I believe there are several on this forum, and I hope they can contribute here.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Aren’t the Optical Rendu Deluxe and Holo Red both UPnP renderers/endpoints? Are these in different systems or are you wanting to use both at once somehow?

Ok having got a debian LMX up and running what’s the direct link to the Audirvana intel CPU debian linux download? I can’t get it into proxmox to load into the container… Do I have to create an iso image of it and get it in that way somehow?

Not able to directly copy and paste the URL here. Can you ssh into the container from an OS with a GUI? If so, it’s the latest amd64 deb file in the Debian folder here: Sign in to your account

Once you’ve got the file, if you can ssh, you should be able to scp to copy it into the container.
