That’s a good question and to be honest I rarely use the Lumin App… I only have an iPhone to run the app on and its pretty small… So in my use case, I usually run everything from Audirvana or Roon… Once an Internet Radio station is playing I leave it running for hours and shutdown my lappy… Later, I use my iPhone to turn the Lumen off… I can say that the Lumin hands off between the iPhone, Audirvana and Roon very cleanly… Pretty much stop using one app and/or device and start using another… No hiccups… I understand that the Lumin App is pretty nice on an iPad…
I’m actually pretty happy with the Lumin app on my iPhone to control various UPnP/DLNA/OpenHome apps, but then again I haven’t used it on an iPad and so don’t know what I’m missing.
I’ve got an UpTone EtherRegen to do optical-to-copper Ethernet conversion and reclocking at the moment, and an IsoRegen to do USB isolation and reclocking.
I’m supposing the Fitlet3 will substitute for both the ER and MicroRendu, simplifying the system, while the 10G optical Ethernet connection will both electrically isolate and provide a very low jitter signal, thus hopefully obviating any need for Ethernet reclocking (especially with the IsoRegen reclocking at the USB stage further down the chain). But of course I’ll listen to various permutations to see whether I want to keep in the ER and/or IsoRegen.
For USB cables I use the JSSG360 style from Ghent Audio ( https://www.ghentaudio.com/products/u360?VariantsId=12969,12971,12977 ), which are very inexpensive but I subjectively prefer over any other cables I’ve listened to in my system, including many that are much more costly. Of course that’s purely personal preference on my part and I haven’t done any testing, so can’t make any claims as to objective superiority.
Regarding error correction, it’s the purpose of specs like the one for 10G optical Ethernet to minimize errors as much as possible. When I’ve had managed switches in the chain I’ve checked for data errors and found none. Since DSD is 1-bit, my guess is that if you start flipping bits and suddenly have noise in the middle of your digital silence or vice versa, it would be readily subjectively apparent and not at all subtle.
I have considered Origin but most of my music comes from Tidal.
@Ddude003
I am headphone-centric… Speakers are just noise makers in my home… I was once many years ago a THX-certified installer of ultra-high end systems, if this gives you a clue and have been privileged to be seated center-chair in Dr. Floyd Toole’s double-blind testing system at Harman International after ace’ing his incredibly difficult listening test that he designed and applies in the curation of subjects… My headphones are customized by me and I custom built 9-foot DH Labs cable for these as well with… and for good measure use #61 ferrite bead approximately 8-inches from the output connector of my dual-mono HPA. The DAC and HPA are connected by a 9-inch balanced pair of DH Labs cables, using DH Labs solid pure copper connectors (custom built by me).
I use a single HRTF plug-in: Waves Audio “Abbey Road Studio 3” where I up-convert all PCMxxx to DSD128 and down-convert all DSDxxx to DXD (352.8kHz) off-line, for HTRF DSP and subsequently modulate the DXD to DSD128 using r8Brain in Audirvana… Binaural DSDxxx is auditioned in the raw native DSDxxx recording sample-rate (up to DSD128 via DoP 1.1 on my MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM platform)
Honestly fella, we’ve heard (read) this one before

I’m sure we’re all suitably impressed by now.
And it still means nothing to the ‘normal’ layman, asking a simple question, requiring a simple answer.
Don’t start! ![]()
However @Ddude003 apparently has not followed… I was not trying to brag or re-edify the folks that already know this…
What if Dr Tool was wrong in the first place? Just asking.
That’s for you to determine, isn’t it? ![]()
Why would he even attempt to discredit Dr Tooles findings?
You’d be all over it like a bad Italian suit, and life’s too short.
People post on this forum in the hope of finding a solution to a problem they may be having with Audirvana. Simple. No psychobabble ( or indeed psychoacoustics) required, imho. ![]()
I am well aware of Dr Tool’s revered status and excellence in the field of psychoacoustics. His work is akin to Einstein’s, as the folks on ASR will attest.
Absolutely all BSing aside Toole’s work is a great contribution to today’s audio world. And obviously the golden boy helped him in this work
good show @Agoldnear
I guess that might be pretty impressive to some… I have read some of Dr. Tool’s papers… I have built many of my own cables… Ferrite beads and all… And I won’t bore you with the studios I have been in or the other golden ear mixing and mastering engineers I have known… And I won’t bore you with the computer systems I have built or installed in some of those studios… I do my off-line computing on my custom water-cooled build Asus i7 de-lid overclocked to 4.5 GHz using duel ASUS ROG Poseidon Platinum GeForce GTX 1080Ti Overclockers… By the way, that Waves Audio plugin seems ok for driving head sets… I am not a fan of stuff in my ears, so I run a pair of Martin Logan ESLs…
Good to know… ![]()
Did you post this one before?
Works for me.
And me…
