Does Kernel Streaming mode support DSD?

With two different DACs, in Kernel Streaming mode, DSD capabilities are not highligted in the configuration screens and DSD files are converted to PCM by AS; Apparently, others users cannot play DSD files in KS mode. Is it a limitation of KS mode?

WASAPI and Kernel Streaming mode do not support DSD natively. To enable DSD on those modes you need to go to the sound card settings in Audirvana and enable DoP 1.1 (DSD over PCM).

Needless to say that your external DAC must be capable of DSD, otherwise it won’t work.

This is not a DSD to PCM conversion, but it merely sends DSD to your DAC in a PCM container. The DAC will regocnize this as DSD and will play it in DSD format. For more information about this subject you need to Google, because it goes too far to explain it all in this post.
