Does the QNAP Beta work with ORIGIN?

Hi.
Can I just check that the NAS beta only works with STUDIO and not ORIGIN, which I have?
Thanks.
Brad

Have you looked to see if both qpkgs are available, or only the one for Studio?

I installed the qpkg that was available - I will take a look. Thank you.

I had installed the audirvana-origin_2.5.12.2_x86_64.qpkg in my QNAP 453A and the manual install went well.
I do have version 5.0 of the remote installed on my iPad.
My streamer & QNAP are on the same wired network connected to a switch. My WAP for the iPad does not connect directly to the same switch.

When I open the remote app, I just see my usual connection to my computer, which works very well.

My interest has been in being able to use Origin without my PC.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Ps: My network is as follows: Fibre broadband router with 4 ports:
1 House WAP: IPAD with A remote 5.0
2 Switch 1
3 Switch 2: PC, Streamer, NAS
4 Garden WAP

The iPad (or phone) with the remote has to be on the same network as the NAS in order for the remote to control Audirvāna on the NAS. Is there a convenient way for you to accomplish that?

Thanks for your continued support.

I have followed your advice and have connected my WAP to the same switch. I was hoping the remote would show a NAS connection, but it shows Computer connection at the top of the screen - it can’t make that connection as I have not launched the program on my PC. Clicking on select a computer shows no connection and no available computers.

Is this because my license is active on the computer? I thought as a BETA it would allow me to keep my license on the PC?

My only other thought is - I have managed switches and I have disabled DHCP on both switches to avoid other issues?

Thanks.

When you check the status of Audirvāna on the QNAP, what does it say?

Having clicked on the Origin icon I get:

Audirvāna Origin release 2.5.12.2

Application is running with PID 401

[Open log file]***************/cgi-bin/qpkg/audirvana-origin/logfile.php)

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Then opening the log shows:

Hi @Brad,

when you open the Remote app, do you see the name of your NAS in it?

Hi
No - it shows Computer Connection at the top of the screen.

Then connection in progress to:
And then my PC on the next line, (which works very well with my Digital streamer & the iPad remote app).

It is clearly not finding my NAS, although the devices are all on my home network (single name).

Hope you can help?

Hi.

I have another app (8 player pro) to access and control music on the QNAP and that does work. It got me wondering how the Origin qpkg connects?
SMB, FTP??

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Do you have avahi/avahi-daemon installed and running?

I haven’t heard of that, so I’m pretty sure I don’t have it running. I will investigate in the morning.

Thanks for the question.

Hi.

I enabled a few more connections on my NAS in case that was the problem. This did cause a change in the logfile:

Some progress I think?

Great News!
The app has connected to my QNAP NAS! It finally showed up as a connection!
I had shutdown my NAS this morning and this all happened after a restart.

The log file now shows:
2024-04-30 14:58:07.469 [info]: RemoteServer: Server started and advertised on port 34847
2024-04-30 15:03:54.588 [error]: Not logged to Audirvana account: need to sign in

I was advised my license would be disabled on my PC, which made sense.
The remote interface is on my iPad, but no music is listed either by album or artist. Further investigation needed.

Thanks

All working. Very pleased. I was using the NAS with SMB and had disabled most other connections. I like the remote interface - all sounding exceptionally good.
