I‘ve bought a brandnew MBP M3 Max last week.
→ playing DSD256 with this is working 100% well… no „klicks“ or other outages.
… seems, the Intel Macs have some problems here?! I will change my MacMini to a new M2 - version soon. Let‘s see, if DSD256 playback is going to work on that, too!

And now I updated my MacMini to the actual M2 (non pro) model - and this works superbly fine, too! (should be 16 GB of RAM model if you don’t want memory swapping when playing DSD256 + reading a Booklet / surf the net meanwhile. Not necessary in every aspect - but: useful).
I am very happy with my new generation Macs now … these are 100% capable of audiophile playback with Audirvana.

The same happened to me.
I exchanged a 2018 Mac mini I5 8Gb for the M2.
The M2 is perfectly compatible with Audirvana.
