I would love to have the old “Stop” button near the Play and Pause buttons, like in Audirvana 3.5, rather than the Lock / Unlock button to the right in AS.
I agree with you. I too am of the opinion that the small “lock” symbol is not intuitive and departs unnecessarily from convention.
It is not the end of the world, but simply proof that not all change is progress.

Yes, the lock/unlock button in no way gives any meaning of “stop” in the way an actual stop button would. It really is poor UI/UX.
It needs a stop button, and it’s a barrier to purchase for me.
