File plays but sound stops after a minute

I have had Audirvana for several years, it is up to date and I am currently suffering from a couple problems:
-main issue now is that a track will start to play when activated, but no sound after the first minute or so, even though the progress bar shows the track is still running

Software is installed on a 2014 Mac mini that was purchased new in 2018 running OS X 10.13.3

-secondary issue (which may not relate to main issue above) -sound seemed lower in volume/db than I remember by comparison to other sources— but the player software operated. As far as I know, nothing has changed. I did have multiple connections to the same remote, which I disabled, then renewed to a single remote (iPad).
I can post debug info here since I gather Damien is easier reached here? Or should I email him (Hate to bother the guy, especially the day after Xmas).

Have you tried playing through the built in output? Can you completely disable SoX?

This may be a function of my ignorance, but I basically deleted all the Audirvana software and reinstalled the latest version. I did check that the previous version and this one worked thru the internal output of the computer and also verified using another computer that the rest of the connections, usb to coax to DAC to line stage, etc. all worked.
I still have the problem that a track will play for a minute or two and then no music while progress bar continues to move forward.
There is also a drop down for system optimizer calling for some password- the one I use for apple cloud and ID doesn’t work, nor do others I tried. If this is a password unique to Audirvana, I don’t know where to find that.
I’m basically stuck on a technical level here, aside from some payment issues that I’m sure will get sorted out. My experience in the past has been good with Damien.
Thanks for your suggestions above bit tracer, not sure where I can find the settings on the latest version to disable SoX.

FWIW: I did what every good car mechanic does, aside from hitting the part with a wrench. I rebooted the computer. Now, it seems to be playing beyond the first minute or two of the track. So, I forgot the first rule of computer science- when in doubt, REBOOT!
Meanwhile, Damien, I have to get with your people on the admin side to work out the financials since I paid twice (once for an upgrade that didn’t take and then for a new install). I also never got the key to convert the trial of this latest version to a full use license. We have thirty days to do that, and you’ve always been good, so I’m not worried about you running off in the night.

When sysopt wants to install, it ask your permission with you telling your Mac password, not iCloud or others

Sox at off is on clicking little speaker icon down right of main window, then click the arrow right of your dac, the in upsampling settings, put it at off… means, will play bitperfect :grinning:

Hmm, now I just have to figure out what that password is. I know the unlock password, but I don’t think that’s it, is it?
I’ve had this iPad for a long time and hardly ever used it… (or I’m going with that as my excuse).

I will look when I go up- I spent hours at this, but at least got it to play. The DAC is one of those NOS old chip thingies with a tube (or valve, ahem). I’m an analog guy in a digital world.

OK, progress here. I had forgotten my password to this Mac mini and of course, the way to change it unlike most Macs, required a reboot in safety mode so I needed wired keys and mouse since blutoof die when you reboot.
In any case, your advice re the settings was spot on, @RunHomeSlow. Setting was already off, and I was also able to enter the password to enable the utilty to install the optimizer. So, now I’m play testing- and so far so good. Many thanks for your helpful input.
