For Audirvana Core to work correctly in Linux Mint, the firewall has to be turned off. There is a file rule that I can implement to ensure that an exception is made for the Core system and iOS remote.
Does anyone know what the rule or parameters are so I can create these?
Sorry I donāt. I hate the fuss of software firewalls. The few times out of curiosity that I tried coming up with something that would allow Audirvana to work before turning off ufw, just like you I was not successful. But Iām guessing someone who has more practice than we do has done it. Hope other folks with more Linux knowledge will chime in here.
@Antoine , since this may be a common question among people using Audirvana Core for Linux, should it be part of an FAQ? (Or is it already - I confess I havenāt looked.)
Itās not, to be honest, I never had to deal with firewalls on Linux; however, I plan to personally transform my personal tablet, which runs Windows 10, and switch it over to Mint. I will check this out at this time. I hope to be able to do it next week.
Although I did not encounter any problems with AudirvÄna and a firewall in Linux Mint, I have found that AI agents like Claude or Chat GPT can prove very handy with solutions regarding Linux (I use Mint myself as well).
So if you donāt object on using that kind of tools, you could try that.
I installed Mint on one of my devices at home, and I had to add a new rule in the firewall to get the connection to the Remote app.
First, you must start AudirvÄna Studio using the command line:
/opt/audirvana/studio/audirvanaStudio
After you have done this, please look at the lines you see in Terminal; it should mention a port for the Remote server. This is the port you must set in Mint to make the connection to the Remote.
