Floating point processing

I have Audirvana 3.5. Is all the DSP, particularly the upsampling and the software volume control done with 64 bit floating point processing? Or is it using fixed point processing?

That’s an interesting question. Totally irrelevant for most users, but it is if someone consciously wants to plan the DSP signal path. For example r8brain chooses whether dither will be applied depending on floating point or not.

The “Output bit depth” selector allows you to change the bit depth of the input file. r8brain performs industry standard TPDF dithering when either 8, 16 or 24 bit depth was chosen. Dithering is not applied to floating-point output files.

In terms of possibilities, AS is almost a mastering suite, only the end user has no insight and influence on the bitdepth conversions.
