When I click on any of my libraries, playlists, albums after searching, etc. to load a song, it goes unresponsive for 10-15 seconds quite often. Is this a known problem?
I have tried optimizing the library and it has not improved and my specs are fine. I looked at the logs in the database folder and found no errors. Here are the specs
Windows 10 13900K The drive where the database is located is an Optane 900P Music file storage is also SSD Total tracks 12381.
If this is a known issue this is the one that should be improved the most.
As far as I know this is not an issue in Audirvana itself.
A possible explanation is that the drive where your library is located goes ‘asleep’ after a period of time and takes some time. I have had that in the past and the steps below solved that.
Check the power plan (Control panel) in Windows to make sure external USB devices are not allowed to suspend after a period of ‘not in use’ (set the USB setting below to disabled).
The LPM setting is also Active on the internal SSD. Therefore, the SSD will not go to sleep.
Also, I have never had this kind of petit freeze phenomenon caused by the SSD until now.
The timing of occurrence is also random, and the next access is performed before the SSD goes to sleep, and the phenomenon occurs.
Based on the above, we thought it might be a problem on Audirvana’s side. Is there anything else that could be causing this?
No sorry, this was the most likely explanation I could think of. But looking at your screen shot should the ‘AHCI Link Power Management’ setting not be ‘disabled/off’ instead of ‘active’ (or am I interpreting something wrong there)?
All I can tell you that it is most likely not a problem on Audirvana’s side. I have my library on an SSD as well and don’t have that problem in Audirvana. Also I have not encountered your issue before on this forum. Maybe other forum members have something to add about this issue?
The LPM setting is Active=Disabled
The only thing I can think of at this point is that there may be a problem with a file or database, so I’m going to register a small number of files in the library and see if the same thing happens.
I’ve tried to set the number of music files to a very small number and set the database and music file drives to different SSDs, but it still takes about 10 seconds to load sometimes…
I really don’t know what is causing this, it’s really stressful…
What I found out is that especially when using View All Tracks After Search, there is a high probability of no response and it takes a long time. This happened even if the number of tracks after opening was only one.
After searching, I waited at least 10 seconds and then clicked on “view all tracks” and it didn’t freeze. It almost never happens when I click on “view all” for an album or artist.
I think this may be a problem with the responsiveness of the library, but it may be a problem with my environment, and since there is nothing I can do about it at this time, I will be extra careful when using the search.
