My old MacPro is stuck on this 10.14.6. While I was offline for a while my install of Origin was upgraded to 2.6.5. It broke it. Will not run on this version of Mojave. A MINOR release? What the hell kind of SW engineering is this? When I tried to DL, all it presented me with was 2.6.5. I opened a case and was told the DL was the proper release. NOT. After a few email exchanges I was finally given the DL link for 2.6.4 which fortunately works. Bad bad Karma guys!
Yep. Leaving auto updates on bit me. OTOH the installer should have been able to grok the incompatibility. Other packages do. Fail.

And you kept the 2.6.4.dmg as the last good working one, just in case…
Absolutely! I have a 40TB NAS for such things.
About 10T of lossless music about 3T HiDef.
I’ve been around the block. Retired now, but a SW engineer since 1977 starting in Silicon Valley.
My last gig was 22 years at Cisco.
Sorry, I have little patience for SW dev mistakes like this.
I think you were right in the first place, if not compatible with operating system, it should not update by itself…
