Happy and Positive

For years an enthusiastic audio fan. I used Roon on a self made server and was happy with it. I experimented with an older obsolete Mac mini late 2012 and replaced the HD for a Evo 680, 2 TB Samsung SSD. I installed Linux Mint on it and as a trial first Audirvana Origin and later Studio. Installation was super simple.
I was amazed by the sound quality of AU. Coincidently my yearly Roon subscription was at its end. I am really happy with AU so I will take a subscription and leave Roon for what it is. In my quest to use as little American stuff as possible my setup is with Qobuz. The macmini (yes it is US but recycled) is connected through USB with a Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 and Pure Audio open baffles. Great sound. The MacMini runs headless with NoMachine as remote (don’t forget the dummy HDMI plug in order to be able to power the machine off).

All in all I am very happy with this setup.

I’d like to point out that avoiding American products (although understandable from a certain point of view) also might hurt those Americans that completely disapprove of the current political landscape and the policy it brings into practice.

But everyone has to decide for themselves which way suits them best here.

I agree totally. I wasn’t intending to point out a political statement. I am just proud of such good European products as Audirvana, Qobuz , NoMachine and may others.
