HiFiBerry DAC?

Anyone have experience with HiFiBerry DACs? These are HATs (aka daughter cards) for Raspberry Pi.

I’m looking at the DAC2 Pro ($45) or the DAC2 HD ($109) …

… these look to be decent mid-fi, hardly competing with an external DAC.

The idea here is to create a dedicated Audirvana streamer, eliminating the need for a DLNA/Chromecast endpoint (WiiM, for example).

Unfortunately no joy with my my new HiFiBerry DAC2 Pro: setup all good, Audirvana sees the DAC, but playback stops immediately with no errors logged.

I setup the DAC per the instructions and Raspberry Pi OS sees it okay …
aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dacplus], device 0: HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro HiFi pcm512x-hifi-0 [HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro HiFi pcm512x-hifi-0]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Playing a .wav file via aplayer works fine.

AS sees the snd_rpi_hifiberry_dacplus device. When I try to play a track, AS starts to buffer the track but never actually plays any music. I’ve enabled detailed logging, but no errors show up.

Looking for suggestions on how to diagnose and make progress.

Do you see the track playing but you don’t have audio or the track do not start at all?

Hi @Antoine, I see the track playing for a brief second and then it stops.
