Higher resolution flac files cannot be played

hi all,

I have Audirvana 2.8.2.2 on Mercury Streamer (v1), which is a Raspberry CM4 based streamer from PI2AES with 4GB RAM, using hifi_digi_pro driver into HoloAudio Cyan Dac over I2S.
It plays local flacs and Tidal very well when they are 16/44 format, but whenever I feed something of higher resolution 24/96 or 24/44 or 24/48, it just outputs noise.
Audirvana is running on the latest Moode image made specifically for this streamer, and Moode itself can playback the highres flacs with no issue.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi @martynasm,

Can you send us a copy of the "Debug Info“ when you have this issue? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>My account.

Note: When you click on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content. Please paste it in response to this message.

Hi,

See below. Btw on Android the debug output is not copied by default, and the text cannot be selected in the popup window. I used my wife’s iphone to get it, there is a copy button in the popup window in iOS.

Hi Antoine,

Any update on the above? It would be great to get it working for high res files, I would switch from Volumio to Audirvana in that case.

Thanks in advance.

Martynas

I have issue with some Hires with 4Go RPI also, seems a question of buffer with big 32/64 files…

I tried increasing the buffer to the max, no change.

Martynas

I know it was just a fact not a solution…

My educated guess is that 4GB of total system memory is not enough to run the system, AKA OS. and create enough buffer space for your high rez music files… You might try decreasing your buffer allocation to either 0.75GB or 1GB and see what happens…

I have no problems running any resolution files on 2Gb of memory. I guess something else is the matter.

To the original poster: just create a support ticket with Audirvana and send them the FLAC file that won’t play. I have done so in the past and they fixed some of the issues I have experienced in a new release of Audirvana

I have decreased the buffer to 1.3GB, no change as well. This box is a Moode box, with Audirvana installed alongside, Moode can playback high res no problem.
Regarding a ticket - I don’t think I am entitled to that, I am not a paying customer  I was hoping to get some help here, since Antoine asked for debug info (see above posts). And it won’t playback any high resolution track, neither a flac from NAS, nor from Tidal.

Martynas

It must be something else than the Audirvana software itself, since it works for almost anyone. There are people who use Moode, so maybe a dig around the forum?

Hi guys, can you please try to reproduce the issue with this test version?

https://audirvana-my.sharepoint.com/:f:/p/antoine/EjMdZM34U_pDmKaikyNCH4oBToQ9YXEn_8dSFa6Jt4wMmw

hi, tried this version, still the same result - noise when playing hd tracks both flac from NAS, as well as Tidal. CD quality 44/16 tracks play as expected.
I used audirvana-studio_2.8.9_arm64.deb file

I think you misunderstood - Moode plays all the files well, both HD and CD quality, on the same hw as Audirvana, while Audirvana does not. So it is definitely an Audirvana problem.

The OS of the distribution Moode uses. It’s a complete distribution if I understand it right. Audirvana plays fine with me and many others, so if it would be Audirvana nobody would get a sound.

Like I said before, there are other Moode users here. I suppose it would be more beneficial to use the search function to find the right threads and ask the question there.

Or you buy another SD card, install a different OS and try Audirvana from there?

hi all,

I have sold my Mercury streamer, so will not be able to continue testing here. Looking to buy a Holo Audio Red in the not too distant (hopefully) future. Cheers.
