How to clean old/outdated metadata?

Hi,

I’ve replaced an old storage with new one and slightly re-arranged the folder structure, but I can still see same items appear twice, one copy is the new folder and the other is from the old drive, but I don’t. see any way to delete/remove incorrect album from the library. Is there a way to do so besides opening the SQLite database manually to remove the old/incorrect items?

I understand why you get your behavior. The only way to tackle it easily is to remove your AudirvanaDatabase.sqlite file.

Special Warning : When you delete the file AudirvanaDatabase.sqlite, you will lose all the Playlists, Favorites you created in Audirvāna Studio.

However, you can back-up all those Playlists by going in the Library section of Audirvāna Origin

You can go to AudirvanaDatabase.sqlite file using Finder:

  1. Open its Go menu
  2. Pressing the option (or alt) key, and maintain it pressed. This reveals the Library command in this Go menu.
  3. Click on this Library command
  4. In the Finder window that opens, navigate into Application Support, then Audirvana
  5. You’ll find there the file AudirvanaDatabase.sqlite

Once removed, please reopen the software and sync your music. You can then restore your backup at the same place of where you done the Backup.

Okey, will I also loose all the meta data I created for example for my LP rips? They are in WAV format.

If the metadata info is in Audirvana’s SQLite database then: yes you will lose that data.
If the metadata info is embedded in your music files then: no you will not lose it.

I know that most WAV files are not well suited for keeping metadata embedded. The best thing you can do is open your WAV files with an external metadata editor to check if the metadata is in there. You can find lots of freeware metadata editors on the internet (like MP3Tag).

For that reason I always rip all my files to FLAC format because that format is much better in containing metadata. FLAC has a lossless compression format (like zip files) so it does not throw away any information from the original WAV file.

If you do any change on the metadata of the tracks in Audirvāna, the change is stored in the tracks so no, he won’t loose any metadata even if he remove the database file :wink:

Thank you all for trying to help. I made a bkp copy of the database just in case and will try. Worst case will just rollback the old database.
