Connection with external Audio Devices UPnP / DLNA

Hi,

I searched for an answer to this, but couldn’t find anything.

Can I use my Kann DAP to somehow interact with Audirvana? eg, playback music files from the SD card that has 1000’s of songs.

I can playback files from my NAS successfully by using the “add folders” function , but even though I can see the folders to add from the Kann it will not let me select “ok” because it is not highlighted.

Hello @gryffe,

When you have connected your DAP to your computer, are you able to see the files in it with File Explorer or Finder if you are on MacOs? Feel free to send us a screenshot so it would be easier for us to help you.

Yes I can see the files on the Kann DAP with File Explorer. As you can see the album that I have chosen to add to Library does not allow me to press OK as it is not highlighted.

Unfortunately you need to have access to the files inside your DAP, not the mediaserver. You can use your DAP to listen to files that are already synced with Audirvana or to listen to Qobuz/Tidal/HRA steaming but if you can’t access with a mounted disk, you won’t be bale to play it in Audirvana.

Thanks for looking into this @Antoine. I appreciate that what I am trying to do cannot be achieved with the Kann DAP as a mediaserver.

I wonder if you can fill in a knowledge gap for me please regarding your suggestion of using the Kann DAP to listen to Qobuz/Tidal via Audirvana. This works perfectly if I just use headphones directly into the Kann DAP.
I wonder though if you could explain how I would get this to work using my Chord DAC and outputting to loudspeakers, as opposed to listening through headphones. I have attempted to do this but am getting mixed results.

I have selected the Kann DAP as the Network device on Audirvana (normally I would select my Chord DAC), and then select songs to play from either Qobuz or Tidal on Audirvana window. I then go to my Kann DAP and select the option to output the sound to my Chord DAC. This initially seems to work, but when the song starts playing back via the DAC to the loudspeakers the display on the Audirvana window does not show the time increasing, it remains at 00:00. Also after 2 songs the music stops playing.

Sorry for the clunky explanation in my question. Maybe what I am trying to attempt is not possible?

When you are in this situation, can you send me a copy of the “Debug Info”? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>General>Debug Info

Have you tried to send audio to your Chord using your Kann in UPnP mode without Audirvana? Does it work?

Hi Damien, yes it does work without Audirvana.

When you try to do output to your Chord using your DAP in UPnP with Audirvana, can you check if the audio is not coming out of your DAP jack?

Hi Damien. We can just park this for now. I am going to send the DAP in for repair as the Micro SD reader appears damaged and I cannot play songs from it. Thanks for help so far.
