John Coltrane Live at the Village Vanguard (which High rez sample rate?)

I’ve been enjoying Studio 3 this weekend and really appreciate the improvements. My Qobuz library is very large; but my favourites now load much faster than previous versions did, from the time of launching.

I just came across a puzzling anomaly though. I have Qobuz streaming set to the Max of 192khz. When I try to stream the high rez version of John Coltrane Live at the Village Vanguard it doesn’t always play the entire album. The album only consists of 3 tracks. A number of times playback starts from track 2, even though I’ve definitely requested playback from the beginning of the album.

I did a little research and found that this album only shows up as 96khz in the Qobuz Desktop app and elsewhere.

When I reduce the max sample rate streams for Qobuz in Studio to 96khz, the album plays fine from beginning to end. Could it be that it’s being falsely reported as a 192khz stream in Studio? I’m thinking this must be the case, as only studio shows it as a 192khz album, I suspect studio is mis-identifying it as such.

If this is just a problem with this one album and it’s an isolated case, obviously it’s not such a big issue. I’m posting this though because perhaps it is a more widespread problem. After this experience, how can I be sure any albums showing up as 192khz in Studio are actually 192khz and will play correctly all the way through at that sample rate?

Hi @soundgals , do you have this album in your favorites?

Yes, I do. In Qobuz favourites.

I notice it’s available in Tidal at 192khz. I subscribe to Tidal as well.

Do you think there could be some confusion between the Tidal and Qobuz versions?

Hm, there may have been a change on the Qobuz end. If you search for this album in Qobuz, do you find it in 192 or is it now in 96 khz only?
