hi there.
since a few days i own a pair of kef ls50 wireless II. in the manual its written that you get the highest resolution playback over a fixed lan connection (see above). so I did. the ls50 are now connected to my local network over lan. with a little tool (lanScan) I can see that they have a own IP.
Iâm using a Mac mini M1 as media player.
I want to use Audirvana to stream DSD files and the Apple Music library.
But in the Audirvana settings I only see the speakers connected via Apple AirPlay with 44.1. Nothing else. In the network settings ethernet and WLAN can be choosen. But a red exclamation mark means âDie Erkennung von UPnP-Diensten (SSDP UDP 1900-Port) wird bereits von einer anderen Anwendung verwendet.â (UPnP-services are used by an other application).
Can anybody explain to me how I can use the LS50 W II with Audirvana and my Mac?
What version of macOS and Audirvana are you running?
If you have macOS sequoia then you need to try going to system settings/privacy&security/local network and toggle the entry for Audirvana on. If it is already on turn it off then back on. Then restart Audirvana.
If you are not running Sequoia then it would help if you described how your network is setup. I have used LS50 wireless II for a number of years without issue. I use the cable connection between the speakers and run an Ethernet cable from the KEFâs to the router. In this setup not had any issues with UPnP playback for the last 2 years even though my Mac connects to the network via wireless and the backhaul between mesh routers is also wireless.
Also suggest you show the privacy and settings local network dialog box so we can see what else is running in the background as another app sounds like it is hogging UPnP services. Do you have another UPnP media playback device installed?
I went to the local network toggles and audirvana was already switched on. I did like you described⊠still the same.
I switched off ALL other network-using apps - only audirvana ON - still the same. I dont have an other device installed; or: how can I check that?
Do you have any other UPnP endpoints or is this the first time you have tried to stream UPnP from Audirvana? Maybe something in your router settings or security software blocking UPnP streaming. I would try these first.
Also if you are streaming via WiFi, try connecting your Mac directly to the Ethernet port in the KEFâs to determine whether a network issue with your home network or whether the issue is on your Mac itself.
I build a little local Network âMac-Switch-KEFâ like mentioned above and the UPnP detection still did not work. So we know, that the blocker must be on my Mac and not in the local network.
I remembered that I used a special software for watching TV on my Macs the last years. It was called âEyeTVâ by Elgato and worked with USB Sat-receivers, USB analog-TV-receivers, USB digital-TV- receivers and others. It was sold to Geniatech a few years ago. Since the possibility of TV-streaming over the internet, the EyeTV-Stuff was not developed anymore.
So I looked in the "systemsettings - general - login Items & system extensions (Systemeinstellungen - Allgemein - Anmeldeobjekte & Erweiterungen)â and found âEyeConnectâ activated!
Deactivating this old, useless thing and a restart opened me the UPnP port and the KEFs are running in full resolution.
Great news! Enjoy your speakers, nice sound. I upsample to the KEFâs but donât really hear any difference running a bit perfect stream to them so up to you. As stated not had any playback dropouts or other hiccups for the last 2 years. Strongly recommend hooking the KEFâs via Ethernet to the nearest router, improved stability for me a lot. Also run a cable between the primary and secondary speakers to take advantage of the 24/192 capability.
