MacBook Pro (late 2012) -> Hegel H120 = is not working reliably

Hi,
So far I am using mconnect for playing music via UPnP on my Hegel H120 and it just works fine. All music is stored on a Synolgy NAS. However, I just installed Audirvana but it is not working reliably when used wirelessly in UPnP mode. Music either does not play or stops playing after seconds or minutes. Is this a known issue? In contrast, Audirvana works perfectly via USB. However, this is not my preferred way for playing music…

Thanks in advance…

Hello @r_a_l_f,

Can you send me a copy of the “Debug Info”? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>General>Debug Info

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message.

Hello Damien,
Thanks. After a reboot of my computer and my Hegel amplifier I could stream music via UPnP. However, approx. every five minutes there is a short music dropout. Please find below the Debug Info. BTW, I am using a MacBook Pro Late 2013 not 2012 as indicated above…

Best regards,
Ralf

Are you using the latest version of the firmware for your H120? Does the issue happen whatever the sample rate you try to play?

Try to reduce the pre-load cache to 3000MB.

Yes, the firmware is up to date. So far I just tried MQA files. But I will test the set-up with 44,1 kHz/16 Bit Flac files and let you know…

Thanks, will give it a try…

16/44,1 seems to work perfectly…

Reducing the pre-load cache did not help. The issue seems to be related to the wireless data transfer. I connected my rather old Mac with an adapter to my LAN and the issue seems to be solved. I could listen to music for approx. one day without any dropouts. However, since my Hegel does not support MQA, I tried the upsampling functionally of Audirvana. Since the built-in DAC supports 24/192 I set the upsampling frequency to maximum. On my remote it is indicated now that that a 24/192 is sent to my Hegel DAC. However, after the first song the music stops and the software seems to be frozen. I do not think that this is a data transfer issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated…

If you want to use the MQA capability of Audirvana don’t upsample. You’re losing the benefits of the MQA if you do that. Just let Audirvana do the “unfold”.

Got it, thank you very much! So actually it is working fine then for me and my issue is solved…

i had a similar problem to yours. how did you solve it exactly? if you have solved it at all. thanks!
