macOS Sequoia 15.2 - "Doing The Toggle?"

For those like me who are getting a little tired of having to toggle off and on Audirvana access to local network devices in order to stream to local network endpoints and had hoped for a fix from Apple in 15.2… I have installed the RC of 15.2 (build 24C98) and the screenshot says it all…

Maybe one of the media streaming application vendors who are experiencing this issue can find a workaround?

i am on 15.2RC also and don’t see that message.

When you look at the beginning of your debug info…
do you see Local Network allowed?

Mine says the opposite, but in the Mac preferences of security and in local network, it is blue (on).

i close it in the Mac prefs… quit Audirvana. restart Mac, open Audrvana, see the Audirvana question and went back to pref of Mac and allow the the local prefs… Now my debug show Allowed.

debug

network

No access is reported as disabled in the debug info, hence the dialog pop up. Can confirm when I get this after a reboot there is no access to my network endpoints, hitting the network refresh button in AS results in nothing. Doing the toggle (which is on) off and back on and then clicking the network refresh button in the AS device selection brings back my UPnP devices (TV,s, KEF and Chord streaming devices and my daughters B&W Zeppelin)

One interesting thing is that a chromecast option to KEF speakers has always shown in local network options , since the release candidate of 15.0, however as access is denied when trying to select it results in a crash of AS.

Must admit am intrigued as to why you do not see this. So I just erased my mac and installed 15.2 clean install, then installed Audirvana. So the only software on my Mac is 15.2 and Audirvana Studio 2.9.4.1. As such the only startup items are from Audirvana, nothing else.

After a reboot I still get the popup and access is forbidden (see screenshot). Question… does your mac connect to the network via ethernet or wireless?

Is the button on mac prefs is blue?

I use origin.
Usb local external hard drive for music.
Connect with wifi.

Yes it is turned on, when first opening AS macOS puts up a dialog asking for permission to allow AS to access local network devices. When I go to the local network pane the AS toggle is always on. I have to toggle it off and back on before I can access my endpoints on the network.

Have you tried to turn it off. Restart mac. Restart audirvana and answer the question of audirvana and put back the button at blue?
It still ask after that?
Firewall blocking?

you tried that?

Seeing as AS and Origin share the same codebase for local playback should not be an issue. Tried getting AS to connect to my files on a back up SSD via Thunderbolt as I normally install my files on the Mac’s SSD. Same result and I use wireless too……

Think it’s time I give up trying to find a solution and leave it to the experts at Audirvana. Same issue impacts some Roon users and they are looking at finding a solution and have stated that they will report back when they do. In the interim they are just quoting “draconian” changes to the security system in macOS Sequoia

Yes I have, no change. Tried many things.

The most interesting thing I have found is when I go to local network I do not have to toggle off and on the entry for Audirvana to regain access to UPnP devices I can toggle any of the application entries ( Capture One or CyberDuck) and then AS regains access to my endpoints after hitting the refresh button in AS. This suggests to me the system to facilitate access has frozen in macOS and toggling off and back on any of the apps forces a restart. But then I am not an IT guy so this kind of stuff is way over my head!

To answer your questions on the firewall the test this morning with only macOS and AS installed on my Mac there was no firewall active (the macOS firewall was disabled) so my system was totally open. Same after a reboot local network access was forbidden.

Appreciate the input!

Hi @Djm1960,

Are you using an Ethernet USB-C dongle?

@Antoine thanks for the response.

No I connect via wireless to a WiFi 7 router or when at my desk I connect via an OWC thunderbolt Go dock which has 2.5 gbs Ethernet port. Same issue with both modes of connection.
