MQA and Upsampling

Can I verify what I am finding regarding MQA playback?

Upsampling an MQA file prevents MQA playback. This seems, on reflection, quite reasonable in that upsampling changes what the DAC sees and will prevent MQA unfolding. Do I have this right?

Unfortunately, I have loads of PCM files which I would like to upsample but that sabotages my MQA files. Is there any solution in settings for this?

System is AV - i7 Windows PC - ASIO - iFi Zen DAC.

Thanks.

Yes, the only way to do this at the moment is to disable upsampling, or keep switching it on and off depending on the type of files you play.

Thanks.

That’s what I thought.

@bitracer Does Audirvana not do the first unfold and then upsample after that?

Hi.
I´m heaving issues with Audirvana 3.5 and my new DAC SMSL M500 on MacOs.
Audirvana was nothing detecting my DAC as a MQA capable device (this don´t occurs with others players).
When I play some track in MQA by local file or straming, Audirvana get it in the input section but DAC don´t recepts its like a MQA file to be decoded.

In the Audirvana configs is ON the detection of MQA devices, and some times Audirvana shows “MQA decoder” (of something like this) in this field but the problem persist and occurs some gaps in playback.

I will be very gratfull for some help.

Regards,
Luciano

Hello @Luciano_Souza,

Can you send me a copy of the “Debug Info”? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>General>Debug Info

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message
