MQA stops output 3.5.38 MacOS 10/15.6

Just upgraded from 3.2.20 to 3.5.38
MQA starts playing at 24/88.2 and stops after a few seconds.
My DAC is not MQA capable yet it used to work in previous versions of Audirvana plus.
What did I wrong? Changing MQA settings (renders to decoder or no MQA supported) did not help

Have you tried to disconnect and reconnect your Tidal account?

Yes now there is no sound anymore, YET same thing happens when I play 16/44 files from my library. So it is a USB/DAC issue NOT Tidal related.
ā€œOnlyā€ files my DAC outputs are (16/44 etc.) upsampled DSD 64/DSD128 files from Audirvana via USB and native DSD 64/128 files from Audirvana via USB . DSD 256 only works on Windows 10 as I understood Any idea why my DAC does not output 16/44 files but only DSD files ? (PCM 44kHz is indicated yet no sound comes out of the headphone amp) merci -Thomas

Do you still have Audirvana Plus open when you make your different test?

No I deleted it and removed it from trash, but I guess Audirvana Plus previously installed left stuff on the Mac and is the culprit. I say that because I activated a second Audirvana license on a Mojave partition where Aurdirvana Plus was never installed and all works perfectly. Moving Audirvana Plus to trash was not a good idea. Any recommendation how to delete all files (Audirvana and Audirvana Plus) and reinstall Audirvana from scratch ?

I used app cleaner and removed audirvana, a lot of audirvana plus stuff popped up to delete (such as plists and the like), now I need to wait 24 hours :frowning:

Audirvana Plus as a database as Audirvana 3 has, you can delete it if it has not been done yet. Itā€™s at the same location as your actual database for Audirvana 3: Users/thomas/Library/Application Support/Audirvana

Make sure you set the MQA settings to ā€œNon MQAā€.

Yes I selected no MQA
Mojave all works as long as Tidal MQA is upsampled to DSD; 16/44 without upsampling works flawlessly and is rendered as 16/44 by the TEAC UD-503 DAC which it should.
Catalina, any file (hard drive or Tidal streaming or NAS) only works if upsampled to DSD even 16/44 has to be upsampled to be played.
As I said I removed all Audirvana and Audirvana Plus files I reinstalled Audirvana from scratch
Maybe a 10.15.6 issue, anyways a little disappointed given I paid for an upgrade and can only use it under Mojave which is an old partition on my Mac. But I like the new layout of the application, stilā€¦ :frowning:

you should not having problem with Catalina.

Big text, but fast doing itā€¦

Start fresh Audirvana by deleting those filesā€¦

If you have Playlists that are important export them first to desktop and save them in a folderā€¦ when Audirvana is reset, you can re-import them back in one shot. sadly to this day, the folders they were in if so, are not back, you have to do them againā€¦

Before doing this, maybe you should not connect after deleting those files to Roon, Tidal or othersā€¦ Install Audirvana alone with your databaseā€¦ if working, log to Roon or else after.

Apple hide the Home Folder in User Library at some time depending on OS Systemā€¦
When you have clicked your Home Folder, and cannot see the Library Folder in there,
just do a ā€˜ā€˜cmd Jā€™ā€™ to show the folder settings preferences and see at the bottomā€¦
click Show Library Folder and then youā€™ll have access to the rest forever.

Starting for new Audirvana:

Go in Audirvana preferences panel and revoke license, then remove your database(s) there
(all the folder(s) of music you have there) delete them with minus sign.

Close Audirvana.

Go to the Main Library Folderā€¦ PrivilegedHelperTools folderā€¦
Trash All the files in that folder from Audirvana (that folder install SysOptimizer)

Go to the Main Library Folderā€¦ LaunchDaemons Folderā€¦
Trash All the files in that folder from Audirvana (SystemOptimizer and prefs files)

Go to Userā€¦ Home Folderā€¦ Libraryā€¦ Applications Supportā€¦ Audirvana Folderā€¦
Trash All the files in that folder (that is your database of music, back it up! or not)

Go to Userā€¦ Home Folderā€¦ Libraryā€¦ Cookiesā€¦
Trash com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus.binarycookies

Go to Userā€¦ Home Folderā€¦ Libraryā€¦ Preferencesā€¦
trash com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus.plist and
com.audirvana.Audirvana.plist in that folder
(those are A+ software preferences, back them up or not)

Go to Userā€¦ Home Folderā€¦ Libraryā€¦ Cachesā€¦ com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus
trash the files in that folder.

Restart Mac.

This will reset pretty much Audirvana like new. You will need you serial number.

Open Audirvana, enter serial, choose a library folder at first it will sync in top middle of main windowā€¦ LET IT GO, even better donā€™t try to adjust windows or edit files, even playing music while it is not finishedā€¦ youā€™ll see the progress bar goingā€¦ Could be long the first time depending on how large your library is, and Mac is fast or notā€¦ go to sleep if it is too long :slight_smile:

Then when finished, shut down Audirvana, yes close it before playing a songā€¦
That way you will have your database from scratch saved without crashing.
Then copy the .sqlite file to somewhere else as a backup, then open Audirvana,
and try to play a song. it will try to install System Optimizerā€¦

You got brand new interface and new soundā€¦ Go to Audirvana menu and select preferencesā€¦
look at them all, then click on speaker icon in the bottom right main windowā€¦
select your DAC, then the arrow right of it and look at all the preferences there tooā€¦
when all set, you can shut it down againā€¦ then you can copy the 2 prefs for the software and back them up with the database backupā€¦ if something gone wrongā€¦ you just have to put the prefs in prefs folder and the database backup to replace to faulty oneā€¦ it will reopen at the time of your last database backupā€¦ so do it regurlarly if you do often editingā€¦

when you put a backup database .sqlite, you will lose all the play counts of music files that played between the one you trash and the backup you put to replaceā€¦
so i backup up a lot the .sqlite file :slight_smile:

Even if you revoke the license before doing it, you have to wait 24h? @Damien3 ā€¦

Yes, but I removed his computer from the database so @popel75, you can use again your license key on your device.
