Multiple Occurrences of The Same Album

I think I saw someone else ask this same question a few years ago in FAQ but didn’t see the answer.

My music library was built in iTunes - pre-iMusic. When I syched Audirvana, my screen shows two (or more) instances of every album. Most instances are identical, but a few show fewer tracks than are shown in iMusic.

As an aside, I’d like to give up using iMusic entirely. Before doing that, I’d like to understand the reason for the apparent duplications of albums.

This bug has been around forever. The solution is that either you have 2 copies of your library without knowing it, or else your computer needs a firmware update.

Hello @Boatmikr33,

Can you send me a copy of the “Debug Info”? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>General>Debug Info

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message

Do you have in /Users/Michael/Music/Music all of the tracks and albums from iTunes?

If you don’t have all of your file, can you try to synchronize iTunes media folder?

I did not before. Now I have all my music in the /Users/Michael/Music/Music, including iTunes. Audirvana is doing a lot of synchronize now.

Rearranging the file folders so all music files, including those from the iTunes follder, are in the master folder labeled music. The mutiple instances of most albums hasn’t gone away. I guess as Sump wrote above, this is an unfixable bug. The only real downside is that smart playlist contain al the duplicates as well. I’d recommend Audirvana have a function like Apple Music’s ability to identify duplicate songs so they can be eliminated.

Can you check if you have this setting disabled in Music?

The feature in Music requires you to actively call it up. Its default is to be disabledt. The Music function to do this isn’t perfect. It seems to work on only the title track names. If an artist has a song on an album, and then records it later on a live ablum, Music identifies it as a duplicate. Apparently you can’t filter tthat out, for example, only show duplicates that have the same playing time, or the same ablum name. Just to check, I compared the duplicate tracks identified by Music with the duplicate tracks and albums showed in Audirvana. They are not the same.
This is not a show stopper. Audirana shows I have over 7,000 albums. Maybe I have 2,000 on my computer. But I can live with the result. I may check out Roon and see if it synics it to all my music files and see if it offers me multiple instances of the same albums.

As Rosanna used to say on “Saturday Night Live” “Never mind.” The error, such as it is, is in iTunes, or maybe iMusic. It was making multiple copies of albums, but it was not showing it. Audirava identied all those copys when iTunes would not. Audirava did what it was supported to do.

This is a new topic.

I traded in an old Mac to Apple and purchased a new one. I forgot to deactivate the license for Audirvana on the old computer. When you turn in a Mac to Apple they wipe the computer of everything. I can promise that that installation of Audirvana will never be used again.

But I’m stuck as I can’t load Audirvana on my new Mac. My license is:
