Multiple problems during playback

I have multiple issues during playback:

If a song with higher sampling rate is played after one with lower the song is played slower, like a record for 45rpm played at 33rpb. In my case a 24bit/96kHz file is played after one with 16bit/44kHz. You can hear an example in the linked file: [iCloud Drive - Apple iCloud]

My configuration is:

Audirvana Studio on dedicated Mac mini (M1, 16GB) (newest OS and Audirvana), WiFi over dedicated WLAN, WiFi5
Primare SC15 MK2 (newest firmeware) connected via UPnP, Ethernet CAT8.1 connected with the same access point, where the WiFi of the Mac mini is available.

You are experiencing a synchronization problem… The DAC is not recognizing the sample-rate metadata about the new file…
Simplify your playback scenario and connect the Primare box directly to the MacMini via Ethernet and your music library connected locally via USB

Please paste your debug information here so folks can help as best possible…
I personally don’t want to go to iCloud (for security reasons) to download files when you can paste them in the post… or link to your other related post…

You are restricting the SC15 MK2 playback potentials by employing UPnP which is restricted to 24/192kHz and DSD128…

With USB B you can playback PCM to 384kHz… The problem with DSD playback using USB with the Primare box is that the SC15 MK2 does not support DoP (DSD over PCM) file playback.

I cannot connect the streamer directly to the Mac Mini via Ethernet - It doesn’t work. Or do you mean, connect both via Ethernet with the local network. I already tried this, same problems. No playback problems with USB.

I don’t have (play) local music. Everything is streamed via Tidal.

I think it’s a buggy network implementation of the streamer.

I don’t have any material with 384kHz sampling rate, or in DSD. I’m just streaming via Tidal. So why I restrict the streamer?
But “Yes” I don’t have any of these issues if I use USB connection. But the sound is better via Ethernet. But to be honest I don’t use a good USB cable.

What worked for me with #3 was the setting for playback skips, but I see from your debug info you already have that setting activated. I am sorry that I don’t have other ideas.

I can reproduce it with this two songs, streamed via Tidal:
First song : You Inspire Me by FM LAETI on TIDAL

If you can connect the streamer to your router via Ethernet you can connect the streamer directly to the MacMini via Ethernet. … If you think it is a problem with the Primare box, what do the Primare folks say about this behavior?

You may like to take advantage of Audirvāna’s capability to up-sample PCM to 352.8kHz and 384kHz … This will help maximize the potentials of the ESS chipset employed in the DAC platform topology.

How long is your USB cable? …It should be a meter or less and of decent quality. Also, I think you said you were using USB-C, are you using an adapter to the USB port(s) on the Primare box? … If you are using an adapter, I suggest replacing it with this on a USB3.0 cable:

The problem is, if I connect the streamer via Ethernet and give both a fixed IP-Adress I don’t have access to the Internet. Because the Mac mini will prioritize the Ethernet connection to search for music (Tidal). If I change the order, the WiFi will be prioritized, and the connection to the streamer is lost. Do you know how to bridge both networks?

Do you use the UPnP output option or the Chromecast output option in Audirvana? I had some issues with the Primare Prisma platform where those two output options seems to be ‘fighting each other’ in the past.

What solved it for me was putting a switch after the router and connect both the primare device and the computer to the switch.

Maybe an option to try?

Oh man. You can call me a Dummy. It’s soooo easy. I never expect what this works out of the box.

I have configured so many networks with routers and managed switches, VLANS and firewalls, the I oversee simple solution.

Easy steps to reproduce:

Configure Mac mini and Stream with fixed IPs from a different network.
Select the streamer in Audirvana
Change the order of the network services: Put WiFi above Ethernet.
Be happy.

Thanks to widen my horizon.

Now I will start testing again.
BTW: Chromecast server is not available anymore.

I got feedback from Primare too. They asked me to activate the Universal Gapless Playback… Currently I have no problems any more. Both solutions »direct Ethernet connection between Mac and DAC« and USB works without problems so far. I don‘t know what‘s happen if I go back to original setup, but why should I do this
