Music goes off when Mac lid goes down

I control the music with my iPad as a remote, main computer is a Mac
Is it right that the music stops every time I close lid of Mac?.

AFAIK there is no way to keep a MacBook on when lid is closed unless an external monitor is connected to the MacBook

If your Macbook has an HDMI port you can likely get around the external display requirement by using a little device like this:

Try an app called InsomniaX. I have it installed on my current MacBook and used it on a previous MacBook Pro, although it has been said it is not healthy to close the lid and not sleep but at the end of the day no different to using with an external monitor and having the lid closed!. Used it for years with no problems.
