Muting people on here would be NEAR GOLD

Is there any way we could mute certain people on here… that would be NEAR GOLD

You can mute people on this forum. Go to your user settings (top right hand button). Then your profile and select preferences then users - there is an option to ignore or mute users. Add whomever you want to the list. You will not see their posts (nor for that matter their responses to your posts)

Always believe that in a democracy everyone has a right to an opinion, even if I don’t like their opinion. As such would not use this option myself

Thanks :innocent:
The beauty of democracy is exactly that, you can let anyone express but you can also decide who you care to listen to or not.
Glad you could virtue-signal.

Does not work as expected, muted people are only muted for notifications, personal messages, and chat direct messages
I was hoping to be able to not see any of their posts at all.
Oh well.

Be careful for what you ask… Especially if you believe you have something worthwhile to say… The true arbiter of these things is one’s own ego… Muting for sure, will continue to feed one’s Illusion of Asymmetrical Insight and one’s state of Naïve Realism (psychology)… The democratic framework of acceptable participation is plainly outlined and is monitored by the moderators with feedback from community participants via the mechanisms provided here in the forum… If one does not agree or finds themselves in juxtaposition to some contribution or statement, this is the nature of reality, and depending on our egocentricity, we will either be engaged or repulsed by virtue of our interpretations. How one manages their cognitive state will determine one’s reactions to any given post… We are all capable of mis-interpretations biased by our ego certainties, biased by our illusions of asymmetrical insights and naïve realism (psychology) .

The option that gives you what you want is your ignore list, slightly above muting on that same user preferences page.

I muted him months ago. Sometimes forums get polluted like that because boring people feed back to them. It’s hard to get rid of them if the administration and other users are tolerant of those who harm an open community. If you mute him, his posts will appear to you as hidden. Since he only brings noise you won’t even be curious about what he says. It’s like going to the spam folder. Either you don’t open it, or you quickly hit the delete all messages button.
