My BD player is listed as a possible audio output device; why not my iPad?

Why is my BD player listed as an audio output device when an iPad connected to the same network is not?

Hello @brlawyer,

Your iPad is not considered as an output because if you connect to it physically (USB) to your computer, it will be seen as a storage device.

But the BD player is not connected physically to the computer, and is connected to the same network as the iPad. So why can’t the iPad be seen as well?

Because it’s not a compatible endpoint. It would need to have software to make it UPnP renderer.
