Need help with Synology setup (no USB DAC)

Hello,

I’m a long time Audirvana customer. Usually using my MacMini but when I noticed that there was a version for Synology I really wanted to try it out (MacMini is old and dying and I have a pretty much new Synology).

Synology DS 920+ with 8GB of RAM.

I installed the Synology package and at this point I’m able to access Audirvana on Syno using the App (had to deactivate the firewall to do so).

At the moment I’m stuck at adding my USB DAC. The Synology do see and recognized my USB DAC in Syno Info Center. But in the Remote, in settings, in output device, there is only my LG TV and nothing else in the list and the available network interface are eth1 or eth0.

Anyone experienced that issue, any solution?

Hi @DrDoom,

Can you play on your USB device using Audio Station, the app you have in Synology?

Hi @Antoine,

Thanks for being so responsive.

I’ve added the Audio Station package and after looking at every possible options in settings, I havent found a way to play on the USB device.

My Synology version is 7.2.1-69057 update 5

That’s what I thought. When we developed the development of Synology version, we saw the difference with the QNAP version, and in fact the Synology doesn’t support USB Audio

Oh! I see!

At least I’m not crazy, and it does explain why I wasn’t able to make it work.

The mention of Synology DSM7 should be removed from the website, I’m assuming that I wont be the only one who will try to go through that mystical path.

I will then wait that my old MacMini die and simply replace it. Btw, it’s off topics but would 8GB RAM enough for a new MacMini only dedicated to Audiravana?

Thanks a lot.

Yes, 8GB is enough

Thanks a lot!
