DAC is Holo May. At first Apple Music and Safari also would not work with the DAC, but setting Audio MIDI to 16/44.1 seemed to fix that. Apple Music with lossless switcher app also worked to play high-res PCM just fine. But Audirvana still did not work. Process: track would load, slowly with spinning ball, negative time indicator would show (e.g. -00:08 sec), whole track waveform would flash on, then ‘error starting device playback’ appears. All kinds of disconnections and reboots do nothing. Please Help! My music is bricked except for Apple Music.
I have no problem playing all file formats with DSP processing and up-sampling/modulation in r8Brain to DSD256…

It looks as though you have your Library files stored on the System Drive… this is not the best approach… better to have the music Library on a separate SSD.
If the behavior persists after you reset the entire system by shutting-down Audirvāna, then the DAC and then the computer and restarting the DAC and then the computer and checking Audio MIDI to make sure the DAC is selected as the output device, and then starting Audirvāna Studio… I would shut-down Audirvāna and run Disk Utility, and check my USB connection, hopefully you are not using a hub… and then open Audirvāna and check whether the DAC is showing as the active output device there.
I would move the DAC to a different USB port until it showed at the top of the USB hierarchy in the System Report…

Thank you Agoldnear. Believe I have done all these things, will try once again as methodically as possible. My library files are on an external disk already (‘Muse’). Do you mean the AudirvanaDatabase.sqlite file should also reside there? Thanks in advance.
Sorry for the late response… Leave the .sqlite file in the System Library… I obviously misread the report… Must have had my mind on something else. ![]()
