No more 3.5? Only Studio with subscription?

What y’all think of starting a new topic in lounge to share a new or suggested album, perhaps limited to one a week per member

Just a thought, let this one either die or keep the endless debate raging :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

That we are going to talk about music instead of technology?

I think it would be nice to discover some music on the forum. And in the lounge it is allowed with a Belgian beer and Dutch bitterballen.

Can someone move the last 40 messages to the lounge?

Someone smarter than I perhaps

Antoine can probably help us.

Otherwise, delete it and start over in the lounge. A bitterbal anyone? Mustard?

Ummmm cheese , my weakness

Everyone post one a week! I wrote that poorly first time

We can discover some new artists that we haven’t heard before

Yep! I’m done with Audirvana! I bought the Plus version just to play Flacs. I have NO use for all the bells and whistles. The fact Audirvana released a patch/update for new Mac chip THEN pulled it back is bogus! Audirvana Studio is beyond overkill for me

Audirvana…there are PLENTY of us out here that just want to play ALL our music files. We don’t need all the incredible Studio tools!

You really need to rethink allowing customers who bought in a long time ago to have the patch to make their investment work.

Again the idea an update was released then pulled back is bogus! You really think you’ll force me into subscribing? Good luck with that!

For those calling it business…Guys like me invested years back allowing Audirvana to grow. Now we’re cut off! That’s bad business…I’ll be investigating options. I can always take a few minutes and convert to ALAC and use Mac Music…FREE!!! In fact…That’s what I’ll do!

@glen , this is an example of what I said that subscription is a dangerous business model for the developer, because it makes customers run away, and look for alternatives.

Some existing customers stay, many because they want to enjoy the first year discount.
But subscription model does not bring new customers.

Unfortunately, the impression that I got from reading posts on this forum was that many Audirvana customers migrated to Roon. I don’t remember many posts of Roon users migrating to AS.

That’s why I said two days ago, that if subscription works for Roon, it doesn’t mean that it will work for other players.

That’s what I may also do in the end, if Damien does not fix the library management of AS in the year to come.

I’m curious what the Audirvana team focuses on.

When it comes to streaming and user convenience, they have Roon as their direct opponent.

If they go for the Audiophile computer player they have Amarra and PureMusic on OS X which barely get any updates. That is really a very small niche market where you cannot run a healthy business.

For in a livingroom Hi-Fi set there are the Lumin and the like.

Which target group do they want to reach?

Are there any users here who have experience with Volumio and Qobuz? And then maybe more specifically with MiniDSP SHD Studio and Qobuz?

A MiniDSP SHD Audirvana Studio would be a great option for me.

I use Volumio with Allo USBridge Sig.
It has a great sound, but I did not try it with Qobuz.

Is it also user-friendly? Wife and children also like to listen to music, without first following an ICT course.

It’s us, the customers who asked for all those features. The radio functionality, for example, was one of the most requested features.

It’s very easy to use. Easier than iTunes!

It also has a very good upsampling algorithm. I get an improved sound when I output to it bit-perfect from Audirvana or JRiver and let Volumio upsample.
The sound of Volumio is very good for the files that are stored on a drive that is connected to the streamer.
There’s a drop in sound quality if Volumio reads shared tracks from the server.
