Playback issues with 2.2.2

I had to look up what the heck WinDev was, lol

it’s 927 new features thank you very much

Well, these days there’s a Masterā€˜s degree for just about everything

If there’s a rock stable software, then itā€˜s Roon, period.

But it’s SQ is meeeeh!

Cough ā€˜JRiver’ cough   :+1:

JRiver isnā€˜t bad either. But it’s stubbornness of refusing to implement streaming (Qobuz, etc.) is just out of date! And it’s UI may have been modern at times, but not nowadays. The remote, though, runs like a charm.

Agree with you on Jriver. Overall it works great but with no Qobuz or Tidal it seems like they are missing the boat on that one. I still use it quite a bit along with Audirvana Studio as both sound great to me. I stream Radio Paradise on Jriver on a regular basis along with my own music files on both programs.

3.5.50 with my Mac High Sierra is rock stable as well, AS 2.2.2 is not without bugs on the same Mac.

Matt

I switched to Audirvana Studio since it’s release. While it was running smoothly most of the time, issues, sadly, started to build up lately to the extent that I had to switch to JRiver or Roon, just to be able to get my daily dose of music.

Clearly a miss-representation. Have held a Roon subscription until October when I let it expire. The typical 50 support posts per day on the support section of their forum confirms that Roon has it’s fair share of issues. A bit of objectivity required I think.

Well, all I can say is that I never, ever had a problem with Roon Core on my Mac Mini. Though I do not deny that others do have issues.

Roon had a problem with one of their last releases of ROCK, but they had a fix out the same day.

At the moment, I can’t use AS due to massive problems with its remote app.

Fair enough, it is rock solid in your use case with your system compared to AS. In my use case AS is rock solid, but I recognise this is not the case for many of the people who post to this forum. Software is difficult and trying to get a system to work with the myriad of possible equipment configurations is probably near impossible. Roon has its own transport protocol which means the onus is put on the equipment manufacturers to implement it effectively and test conformance via the Roon Ready programme. Hence rather than being rock solid probably works over a broader range of equipment configurations than AS. At the end of the day, each to his own. For me the sound quality is the most important factor therefore I will continue to subscribe to AS as, in my perception, AS is significantly better.

For sure I prefer AS over Roon. AS’ sound quality is so much better than Roonā€˜s! All the more I hope that the good people of Audirvana find a quick solution to the problem with AS remote.

I am sure they will improve compatibility with time. Until then we all just stick to what works best for our use case.

Hi @sdaughtry,

So you get this issue while trying to play to your Lumin using UPnP? If it’s the case, can you please post your debug info while you have your Lumin selected. Whether you try to play a MP3 file or a FLAC file, it will be sent by Audirvāna as a WAV so we do not alterate the quality of the file. This then means the issue is maybe around playing a WAV file to your device using UPnP or it maybe something in your audio settings in Audirvāna that need to be changed.
