Playlists Best Practice, input appreciated

Was never able to take advantage of playlists NOT created in Apple Music, these work fine. However creating playlists in Audirvana has been more challenging.

I think ultimately I am better off doing all my organizing in Apple Music as I use a few other apps that take advantage of it, so I need some centralization even if the Search in Music is terrible.

I tried creating playlists in Audirvana but don’t understand how they should work… they generally disappear from the sidebar, yet still exist once I click My Playlists, sometimes one or two will stick in the sidebar. Sometimes some will have a little arrow to the left, sometimes not, what is that for ? Sometimes they wont appear in the sidebar after a restart. Hence why I have no idea where features end and bugs start.

And should Playlists created in Audirvana appear in Apple Music or are they two separate worlds ?

I guess I could read some manuals… but I tend to think apps should be fairly instinctive to use however I encountered quite a few Spinning Beach Balls, hangs and Force Quits trying to handle Playlists in Audirvana (and in other situations), a bit of a cold shower for playing around an interface and figuring it out… Even something as basic as deleting playlists caused unresponsiveness and the need to Force Quit many times.

I believe we all know how slow starting this app is. Can’t be just me. It is sloooooooow. I often do not reopen the app for days, shell-shocked but lately I have decided either I make it work for me or I stop using it altogether. I was very very close to deleting it… but on paper it is such a cool app. In practice… less so.

Is using Apple Music as one’s base creating slowness or hangs ? Or should that not be an issue. I use some apps that load and synch Apple Music very fast like DJ.Studio (no idea how they do it, but Audirvana definitely is extremely slow in that regard).

Would be interested in knowing how Mac users handle their playlists management. And if they too get hangs and often need to crash the app ?

I’m doing my best to love this app… but… er… damn, she is hot but a tough one to love.

Thank God I read this thread… Best Practice is NO PRACTICE.
Bypassing Apple Music Synchronization fixed all my issues.
If that can help anyone.

The playlist you have in Audirvāna and Apple Music are in two separate worlds.

I think in your case the best thing to do would be to drag and drop your tracks in the play queue when you want to listen to it.

You can find how to do this in this article:

Do you think you could ever implement the export of Audirvana Playlists so they can be imported in Apple Music… the way we can the other way around with Doug’s Scripts ?

In Music I like the ability to drag/drop a playlist and have all the files copied there. I use my phone as my ‘Walkman/iPod’ and often prepare playlists to transfer to my phone to take along.
Also use the burn CD functionality regularly, to bring music to people.

In any case there are always ways of doing things. Now that I got Audirvana working fast and well, am happy with it for my listening enjoyment.

You can export a playlist from Audirvāna, but you need to do it manually by selecting it. Then, with a right click, you will have the option to export the playlist.

Sorry for being ret***ed :man_facepalming:
Great, then will see if I can create an automation on Mac, would love to be able to just export (in either direction Music<>Audirvana) and automatically have the apps import when they see a new playlist file in that folder.

Well, if you have not found how to do this, then it’s not you who is the problem, but the software
