Polarity Inversion

Maybe I’m too lazy and ask here if someone know/wants to answer.
I have a stereo system. Both options are off and everything plays ok. However when I changed them few months ago I didn’t notice anything. So this is a troubleshooting thing?

Inversing the polarity is the same as reversing the polarity of the speakers (on both speakers). The speaker drivers will operate in reverse phase. Instead of a forward movement, a backward movement.
There are albums known where the polarity was reversed somewhere in the master process. In principle, this also happens by pressing LP and the master must therefore already be a reversed polarity.
I think there are lists of albums and versions where you should actually inverse the polarity.

There is more to be found. This is just about what I still remember.

Thank you. I will check your links. Just set globally and is like everything is closer, I like the sound. Will listen more. You always give complex answers.

Sorry, I’ll try to keep it simple next time. Or don’t ask such difficult questions

Oh no. I really appreciate this! I wanted to say ā€œdetailedā€, I mean a good thing. Maybe English is not my best friend.

As with so many things. Some swear by the correct polarity of each album. Others cannot perceive any difference.

What makes you feel good. It is nice that it is so easy in the digital world to indicate per album whether the reverse polarity is necessary.

Understand. I use Audirvana for almost a year but always keep this off because I thought it’s better. Now seems it’s not (for me). Some tracks sounds better, others the same, will definitely listen more with this option on.
