Pops after samplerate change using Audiolense Convolver

Hi! I’m using the Audiolense Convolver (ALC) for crossovers, room correction etc. The DAC is a RME UFX. I’m playing from Qobuz with Audirvana 3.5.46, and if I play a track with different samplerate than the current one I get pops. The DAC seems to reset and sets the correct samplerate. Also the ALC user interface shows the correct samplerate. If I stop the track, deselect “Use extra convolver buffer” in the ALC user interface, press play, then stop again and finally select “Use extra convolver buffer”, the pops are gone until I play a track with different samplerate again. When I start Audirvana I don’t get any pops before changing to a track with different samplerate. Maybe a timing problem with resetting DAC, Audiolense or Audirvana? I installed Roon yesterday, and there are no pops. Everything else is the same.

I started up Audirvana, played 1. No noise, then pressed Stop, played 2. Got noise, then pressed Stop, and finally played 3. Got noise.

  1. The Torture never stops 192kHz, startup of Audirvana, no noise
  2. Rollo 96kHz, noise
  3. The Torture never stops 192kHz, noise

Can you try to enable upsampling and use the setting “device maximum frequency”?

Do you still get the issue after doing this?

The noise is gone if using upsampling to device max (192kHz), but the sound quality suffers. I can also use VB Hfi Cable/ ASIO bridge, and select WASAPI in Audirvana. Then select Audiolense in ASIO bridge. This works without noise. When I say without noise I don’t mean the short pop during samplerate change, but pops and cracles during playback. Will the WASAPI / ASIO bridge combo still be bit perfect?

If you select ASIO in Audirvana with he same configuration, do you have the pop and crackles issue?

VB Hifi cable is not available under the Audirvana Asio menu. Only Audiolense and RME UFX are available.

Hello,

I have more or less the same configuration, this means:

Qobuz>Audirvana(3.5or studio)>AcourateConvolver>MAD(Merging driver)>Merging Anubis. I always have some issues with samplerate change!
If I dont use Acourate Convolver, no problem with change but then no correction or XO. If I play convolver>MAD no problem with samplerate change but then no Audirvana, then no music.

Nevertheless I can get around these issues but have to do it manually, this means stop the music before next song starts with another SR. Go to Acourate Convolver, choose the new SR, return to Audirvana, play…

My point is that I need a player program with the possibility to include the convolver function. This way I will have only one Asio connection: Qobuz>Xplayer>MAD.
Thats why I will soon go with Roon, because of Qobuz, which is not possible with Jriver.

If you go in the ASIO driver of Acourate, do you have any sample rate detected?

yes I see the actual samplerate being played

Hi! Seems to be the same as my issue. When SR changes, the correct SR is shown both in the Audiolense convolver, and on the RME display. Have not found any other solution than to move to Roon. Have now used Roon for a few weeks, and the problem is gone. Setup is the same, using Audiolense convolver as the (virtual) ASIO sound card.

Do you have the same issue with the latest version of Studio?

Don’t know, It was installed a fee weeks ago. The trial period is now over.
