Preload speed

Recently, the preload audio file speed of my studio has become very slow. Not only the streaming music will be played intermittently, but also the local audio file. Excuse me, what’s the problem?

I’d suggest you try to raise the buffer memory to approximately 4Gb. Especially since you are upsampling.

Edit: I overlooked that you already have that. I was looking in the wrong place

What happens when you limit bit depth to 24 bits (the Ares is a 24 bit DAC)?

In the case of the debug information report you have provided, It appears you are trying to play 1-bit DSD512 files where the DoP 1.1 PCM carrier sample-rate is 1411.2kHz… These are very large files and very demanding of your CPU operations in concert with the available System RAM, in synergy with your pre-load memory allocation and the available space on your System drive, especially if you are storing your music library on the System drive, all which are synergistically tied to the DoP packetizing operations and the r8Brain sample-rate operations… In all cases, given you are using the recommended minimum level of System RAM (8GB), keeping your playback pre-load memory allocation to about 1 or 2GB will serve you best for overall performance.

If you are up-sampling (Power of Two) PCM files to 1411.2kHz, I suggest that you restrict the maximum sample-rate to 768kHz…
Since the DAC is PCM-centric, you may just convert all DSD files to PCM.

Try enabling ‘Integer Mode’…

Apparently you are using Wi-Fi in your system to stream TIDAL files which presents the potential for network congestion and LAN signal interference to affect the latency of file data.

Beyond these factors, I suggest try powering down the DAC and close Audirvāna and shut down the computer and then power-up the computer and once it has booted, power the DAC and then launch Audirvāna.

I’m sorry that I didn’t explain the situation clearly. All the settings were completely normal a few days ago, and it suddenly became like this.
I have tried to change upsampling back to normal, but the situation has not improved.
I have also tried to restart the computer, and checked that the connection speed of wifi is fine. Intermittent playback occurs even when playing local music.

Did you have some people visiting who could have been tampering with the settings?
Or have you been streaming earlier with another device than the Denafrips? And that by turning back to the Denafrips the Plays with-settings were applied which may be a little too much for your Mac?

What does this mean?
:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Just stop upsampling, restart Mac play something and see if all is normal, then if you want to upsample, try to put it at on and see

Follow @RunHomeSlow 's advice… and if you want to up-sample, follow my advice and limit this to 768kHz and if you are playing DSD just convert this to PCM.

My settings have been used for a long time without any problems. A few days ago, listening to music suddenly became intermittent.
However, I restarted the ares and now it’s normal.
Thank you.

I just restarted ares, and the situation seems to have improved.
I can’t understand the relationship between dac being on for a long time and preload, but now I can listen to music normally.
Thank you all.

Power of Two is the correct algorithm to use, however, If you are upsampling to 1411.2kHz or 1536.0kHZ this is taxing your system level CPU operations… Limit up-sampling of PCM files to 768kHz or 384kHz for best performance… especially with only 8GB of System RAM available for CPU operations… Experiment with up-sampling limited to 384kHz vs 768kHz and letting the DAC do the rest.
