Problem changing audio output

Using v3.5.14 on a MacBook Pro under OS Mojave. Want to change audio output. Message “Please stop playback to change audio settings” I have one CD in my library and it is not playing. I have Bongiovi Acoustics installed but not loaded when Audirvana is running. Nothing I do removes the message, therefore I cannot change output.
