Problem Lexicon Alpha DAC / 24 bit WAV

Connection with external Audio Devices USB DAC

Hi. I can’t read 24 bit / 44.1 kHz WAV files through my Lexicon Alpha USB DAC. 16 bit or other formats are fine. I have an recent Mac Mini, when I try to read my 24 bit files using directly the Mac output it works for Audirvana. What’s the problem ? Do I have the wrong setup for the DAC in Audirvana or is the problem with my DAC ?

Thank you for your fast answer. VLC / Mac Mini is ok. It’s also ok with my streamer Atoll DAC (ethernet). Maybe I need to setup Audirvana for the Lexicon DAC or take a new (and better) DAC, or a headphone amplifier ? I mostly listen to music via my headphone or the Atoll DAC (I know that I need better material to listen with my headphone directly through the Mac, but I don’t know what to buy).

Can you try to enable upsampling in your audio output settings in Audirvana? After doing so can you try to play the same song?

With some DACs there are issues. It’s not a good reason on itself to change the DAC. Keep using it without upsampling if you like the sound.
