On my iMac 5K 2015, trying to use Audirvana with my headphones through the Earmen Sparrow DAC invariably leads to kernel panics and sudden restarts; this has happened at least FIVE times now, whenever I try to play streamed content on A+. What gives?
MacOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) and Audirvana 3.5.44 (3574).
Have you tried to update your computer to a newer version of MacOS?
Never. I have too many 32-bit apps and games to bother about Catalina or Big Sur.
Do you have kernel panics when you try to play through your iMac speakers?
Not really, since the Sparrow is a headphone DAC; the kernel panics and unexpected restarts happen when I am using Audirvana with that DAC plugged into my Aeon 2 headphones.
If I am just playing music through my iMac speakers and A+ (with no Sparrow), no problem.
If you have some cheap earbuds, check with those plugged into the Sparrow.
